T360 Apres Ski Edit....
Firstly, There are drifting/fallen Versant Nord sectors with as much as 12 CM's
on depth accumulation. Windigo is an example, but the runs on either side
also had similar benefit.
Versant Nord, Beauchemin Bas, Lower.
Bonjour! It's Snowing on Expo!
Generally, the wind direction and velocity created more favourable
conditions on the North. There was good skiing on the South too. Both
Taschereau and Grand Prix to TGV were good, but with some slick spots
over the wind blown crests/pitches, therefore, not with the consistency
of the primary North Trails.
The still sub-zero, but somewhat more humid winds over the South made
for a higher forward resistance factor, but we're overwhelmingly happy
as it's still all snow!
Grooming tonight will be a huge benefit where it occurs. At these temps,
as depths build, there's a hint of heaviness in the thicker surface layers
and grooming also compacts much of that thickness out rendering a
quite fast, easier to float over, top layer.
Below: Merci Mountain Crews!... Here's what you get to ski on Tomorrow!
Shout-Out to Hamilton Ont., from Tremblant!
We were taking a few last run snaps on Johannsen at the
Resort South Base when these guys from Hamilton Ont., approached
us to take a couple of pic's. Naturally, we were happy to do so with
one of their phone cameras.
We also snapped off a couple quick ones and offered to put one up
tonight, so here it is!
Hello Hamilton, From Tremblant!
-------------- 3:44 A.M. Orig.Post ---------------
80(*) Open Trails on 4 sides of Tremblant as it hangs in there
with temps just on the freezing mark, South Resort Base Level...
As soon as you finished doing this.....
Cruising Flying Mile.... or any other of the very fine Open
slopes at Tremblant yesterday.....
These Guys came out... and started their daily ritual of grooming...
And as we file this very early report this morning, due to some local
travel/road trip chores....
They're still at it... right this second, and for the rest of the night too...
It's this attention to detail that both earns our respect and creates
some of the finest Open terrain on the East Coast of North America,
each and every morning.
But... and it's a very special "But" this morning, Tremblant might actually
be just about the only Ski Resort in this part of the world that has "Winter"
from Summit to base. Almost everywhere else in the region this morning
gets, or has gotten rain... and "warm"... a bad combination that hopefully,
we get to escape from today, tomorrow and the rest of the week, and hopefully,
we get to avoid altogether, thereby preserving that very precious "Winter",
extending it for what we think could be up to the next three weeks.
Lucky Us.... Lucky everyone who happens to be either visiting now, or
planing a visit within the near future. Winter, precious Winter... it's
possible that for no other reason than Tremblant happens to be a wee
bit father "North"... by just less than a handful of degrees, we get to keep
"Winter".
That's the Benefit of Tremblant!
That's the benefit of "North"!
We often write about "Tipping Points" but none may be as critically important
today than this bare handful of thermal degrees that separates Tremblant
from almost every other regional Winter Alpine Resort area and keeps us
"Winter".
Here is todays extended forecast for the week, Courtesy of The
Weather Network.
"Saved By Degrees" ... or in this case... a single degree.

It's a great week to be at Tremblant!
Regional Alpine Snow Sports Fans....
Are you "Up in the air" about where to go skiing this week???
It's "No Contest" right now...
if you want "Winter"...
It's Tremblant, for sure!
