The 2 off-line are Zig-Zag and Vertige, South Side, Summit
Level Double Black Diamonds.
Generally speaking, the Skiing and Boarding on all open terrain is going to
be very fine for the simple reason that within the past two weeks we've
gotten about 70 some odd CM's of Snow. All that fresh has been worked into
the base with the incremental refinements that occur with each and every day's
grooming. On the un-groomed, it's added to the natural accumulations.
In last nights Official, Preliminary Snow Report the weather
outlook for today was to be sunny. The Weather Network was
also forecasting sunny, but so far, and thankfully as far as we're
concerned..... they're both wrong..... so far.
There are 2 main reasons for this thankfulness....
1) When ambient temps are anywhere close to Zero C, 32 F,
extra solar energy is not what Winter Snow Surfaces need.
2) If they are wrong about this aspect of the forecast, maybe they'll
also be wrong about other components of the forecasting models...
namely, the temps and chances of rain in the long range, i.e., 5 day
forecast.
Grey day, Sunny day, it matters not... any day's a great day to Take Off
to Tremblant!
Yesterdays T360 Journal du Jour had a feature on the weather that
examined 2 different outlooks from The Weather Network that were
2 days apart and how those differences could relate to probable
weather outcomes for the near term. This was a response to a
Facebook inquiry regarding rain potential for Monday and it was from
a very significant demographic for next weeks attendance at Tremblant,
the Ontario Provincial Public School System's "Spring Break" week.
Next week is a popular travel week when thousands of Families toss Kids 'n gear
in the Family vehicle and from Windsor/Detroit on the Southwestern
Canadian/US Border, all the way through to Ottawa, then up and Westward
to North Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.... they all head for
Tremblant to do some real Mountain Alpine Skiing/Boarding.
Please Note:
This week already happens to be Quebec's Public School Systems "Spring
Break" week, so Local's have the big advantage of this weeks stable Winter
surfaces with nothing but snow as precipitation, and consequently,
no worries.
Here is a repeat of the graphic in question, Courtesy of The Weather Network.
(We really like their graphic's that are easy to read, user friendly. We use them
more than other display's for that reason.)

In reply, we wrote to Joel yesterday, amongst other things, that basically,
it was too early to be conclusive about weather factors relating to specific
Tremblant Alpine Ski/Board conditions so far ahead and that the closer we
got to the time in question, the better the chances of accuracy.
In that regard, we think that this mornings Weather Network data shows some
very interesting and potentially beneficial information for near term Tremblant
Skiers/Boarders... no matter where they're coming from.
Here's the Annotated Graphic Reasons we find the current forecast interesting:
scroll-------->>>> for complete document. It should also be noted in the above forecast notations that outcomes could be
greatly variable depending on the time of day the precipitation arrives at.
If it came after mid-night at the coldest potential low temps, the results might
be completely different than if it came at the daytime high point, usually,
just after the noon hour.
It's impossible to know exactly how Mother Nature's going to mix this future
weather cocktail, so all we can do is "optimistically" wait for snow while
being "practically" prepared for anything.
More on today's conditions...
Yesterdays very brisk and gusty southerly winds will have created some
favourable North Side shadowed conditions advantages, but all open sectors
will have great surfaces for all skill levels within them, regardless of side.
Conditions/Safety Caveats:
There may be wind driven glitches including icy spots on exposed crests,
wide open steep pitches and/or any combinations of above together with
high traffic wear factors for examples, so you need to control Speed to
appropriately slow velocity for initial explorations.
