Summit Customer Feedback: Two Thumbs UP!!!
The interesting thing about the "Two Thumbs Up" is that we did
not ask these folks above anything, we were not talking to them at all,
we just had the camera out setting up for a Summit panoramic when
they skied into the frame. Their smiling two thumbs up was completely
spontaneous for the sake of their expression of joy and satisfaction about
their day at Tremblant in front of an open lens.
No doubt, the Skiing an Boarding were, for Experts anyway...
absolutely fabulous Natural Winter Snow Wonder.
For confident Intermediates, there were acres and acres to practice
on. All you had to do was control the speed by adjusting the length
and shape of your cross-trail traverses.
Like this Below:
Use the whole trail, when you need to....
This whole trail traverse demonstration is being done by
a dedicated Tremblant Fan that commutes from L.A., California, U.S.A.,
every season for a celebration of Winter... and there sure weren't any
disappointments! There is so much new snow that we think it's safe to say they're gunna need
a couple of days to just work some of it in.
Three's so much new snow that it's piling up all over the place....
and with some very cool drifting ...like "Last Run", Knee high Powder Busters
on La Crete ????
Can You Take Some Pictures Of The Trees?
You don't need to ask us twice on that one... Most regular readers
here know how much we value the snow in the trees as indicators of the
health of the Winter Alpine Season.
These were the trees we were passing at the precise moment of the request...
They are located on the right hand side, riding up the Duncan Quad, just at the
crest of the first pitch below the Summit.
In the mean-time, over on the South, right from the Summit you could see
the most unusual and spectacular sight.
A Sliver of sunlight... almost perfectly cut out of the cloud to
illuminate Lac Tremblant and turn it into a neon bright white
against the dark grey overcast that was covering everything else...
Truly Unique...
Tremblant is just stunningly gorgeous and if you can be here, but
don't make it, you're crazy. This is a March time portion that should
go into the memory banks of "Ideal".
...as we had hoped, Skiing Tremblant today, was better than yesterdays
already "Excellent".... Really Excellent!
Trick Question: ????
Is this Low Country Colorado, U.S.A. at the end of January????
or
Is this Tremblant, Quebec, Canada, in the third week of March, 2013????
Who Needs Colorado right now??? Not Us!!!!
Tomorrow Even Better!!!! .. WoW!!!!

83(*) Open Trails at Tremblant, where Winter is Alive and Well!
It was snowing all day at Tremblant yesterday.... in the moments
when it was not white-out snowy, you could see advancing walls
of squalls coming right at you as pictured below.
Compared to the day before, yesterday's winds were very gentle
and the beauty of big, fat, fluffy snowflakes falling was pure winter magic.
There was the odd little wisp of wind, but it was never more than enough
to knock the big flakes off of fence rails. The trees were definitely showing
a build-up, one of our favourite indicators of stable winter conditions.
Noticeable accumulations were happening every run for much of the
afternoon.
Below:
The dramatic advance of bands of very active weather never fail to be
fascinating. The skiing was so fine though, that if you did not take time
to stop and watch the very dynamic sky, much of it's uniqueness would
go un-noticed.
While there were times when the whole Mountain was being covered,
there were also times when there were moments of clearing
and even the odd spot of Blue sky could be seen.

You should already be on the way....
Conditions Caveat:
There will be loads of Very Fine Beginner terrain. P'tit Bonheur and Nansen
are the two best samples.
But... on the Mountain as a whole....
These conditions favour "Expert" Level Skills.
"Too Much Snow" ... never for Experts, but for Beginners and Intermediates...
tons and tons of irregular depth fresh snow can represent significant
challenge.
Use your snowplow and control speed at all times. Try to stay low and use
a feet close together stance to create a "Platform" underfoot.
Using "Old School" side-slip, or skidded Parallel Turns is a most useful
skill for these conditions.
A lot of fresh snow over the whole Mountain takes time to integrate.
They are working as quickly as they can.

More on way shortly, but pic's really say it all.

Go now if you can....
We would have to say these are some of the best March
Winter Ski conditions we've seen in damn near 40 seasons....
....certainly, within the Top 5.
