T360 Apres Ski Intro. @ 9:30 P.M.

It was Sunny in the Morning, but it was very "Firm" after the
over-night freeze, until 10:00 A.M.

Just after 1:00 P.M. ...

Big Sky... Big Shadows... Over Tremblant.

The afternoon saw soft surfaces on all sides, but North was faster
and less prone to "Mashed Potatoes" snow. Just around noon, it
clouded over to a scattered degree at first, then to a more overcast
ambience as time advanced.

A possible high temp of +6 C with very light Nor-East Breezes and Sunny, Sunny,
Sunny!

...we like the light wind part best... very little "Blow Dryer Effect"....
we're hoping ambient surface frost and "Cold air sinks" convection, will
keep a boundary layer of cool air washing down the Mountain...

As plain to see as anything could be, this Board Instructor is demo'ing
technique on P'tit Bonheur where much like every single open run at
Tremblant right now....

The surface is really close to ideal for shredding in the warm, sunny
days of late March.

We thought this display of great carving technique was impressive
as the group descended down P'tit Bonheur in a very rhythmic pattern
of alternating turns of both precision and speed.

At the time, there was no other traffic on this trail, so the speed part
was very safe, and not excessive anyway, and obviously with such a
wide expanse of flawless surface, the individuals could feel free to explore
the Expert skill levels of angulation, grip and choice of line to work on the
fine points of their style.

(every once in a while we get a really decent action shot. It's not perfect,
but off a vibrating Chair Lift, not too bad, and for sure, captures the
surface you can work with at Tremblant today.)

Today should just about be a direct copy of yesterday...

Excellent! No Doubt... it was one of the best carving days of the season.

Here we are, close to the end of March, and Tremblant has Wall To Wall White.

In our opinion, this is a great March that will remembered for abundant
snow and even, steady temps that have permitted the retention of
base quality that is not always possible at this time of the season.

Recent March history for the past few seasons will show that temps
in the plus teens C, mid-fifties F, have been seen more often than
Skiers and Boarders would like, but this season we have not had those
high thermal spikes and it shows in the magnificent base covering the
whole Mountain.

Oh yeah, there has been a rain/warm event from time to time, that's
natural for any year, but they have been short, not that warm and
the Mountain has recovered very quickly. Aided by a very deep frost
that started on November 8th, 2012 and continued onward with a
re-enforcement back in February, the frost is still underneath and helping
to sustain the snow on top. Consequently, the base has carried forward
in very fine shape.

Yesterday did not see any deep mushiness that can come with Spring heat
so the top layer was soft, but you did not dig into it to the point of heavy
turning... thank goodness for those consistent overnight sub-zero's like
last night's -6C. Those nice crisp sub-zero's stabilize the snow surface
for the following day and we feel they play a very significant role in
helping to preserve the square area of Open Terrain at the most possible.

For a while, it seemed like winter was gong to go on forever, but it's
definitely Spring now and with only 2 full weeks left in the season,
Ski or Board Tremblant now...

Golf can wait...

T360 Apres Ski @ 9:45 P.M.

Super easy, super coverage, super smooth, super fast.... Supercalafragalisticexpealidocious.

All the advancing Weather Drama did was take the hot sun off the slopes directly.

We actually like that... less heat energy, less snow loss... Period.

Above... Below.... Even though it had the most direct solar heat,
Johannsen never got super soft or deeply mogul'd. It certainly had
great Shred characteristics. As you can see in both of these, any
angle at all on your edges created not only massive grip, but pretty
good display of flying snow too!

Even Expo was soft from top to bottom, but there was no difficulty
in staying on top of it as the pitch was offset by the extra resistance,
so control was fairly even.

Surprise, Surprise... Nice Surprise!

Banzai, Bas, Lower, MCA too... groomed wide and flat.

A true joy for the 26th of March!

Take a Moment to look at Nature...

The Trees Tell A Tale Of Two Seasons...

This Macro View shows the delicate needles of a Lowell Thomas
Trail Side fur tree that is still supporting a wee bit of snow
while at the same time, the mossy growth below is springing
to life with the heat and the moisture. Basically, the tree is
watering the new growth.

More Weather Sky Drama... this time over Flying Mile....

OH Deer...

It's the same old story with the deer, but this deer story's got a little
twist to it ...

The Deer run across the highway without looking and if you hit one,
you will kill it (that's a great reason to keep Vehicle speeds low around
the Resort).

This one ran in front of our car, missing us by about 15 feet or so...
It seems a lot closer when you're moving at normal urban speeds,
and that's the same old story part.

Normally by the time you fumble for camera, turn on, roll down window
etc., the Deer are long gone.

Here's the twist part... We had a Steely Dan CD playing "Hey Nineteen"
and as we approached, the deer just stood there, mesmerized(**), listening.
We weren't 8 metres away... unfortunately, without glasses on, we have
to use the Automatic camera settings and in this case, the focus got
distracted by tree branches, so this is the best of them.

Not even so much as a show of White Tail. After we took a few pic's,
we just sat there and the Deer never moved a muscle from what you see...
ears tuned right into Classic Rock 'n Roll !!!

Go Skiing at Tremblant whenever you can. It is Very Fine.
