If we told you this picture below was a good summary of any Excellent January or February day, we'd all be very happy...

If we told you it was a good summary of April 14th, 2013,
the last day of the season, no one could deny
that it is extraordinary.

Our Sincere thanks and appreciation to all members of the Tremblant
Team for the outstanding efforts made both during, and to extend this
most remarkable, extraordinary, unique, beautiful, and excellent season!

Every season has unique qualities of excellence, but this seasons combination
of early onset of winter conditions and abundant natural snow that has
continued on to this very day, place it in a special category.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation to new forum member Bluewind for
all the efforts and contributions to this record as have been attached herein.

We can tell you for a fact that this person, a long-time Tremblant Fan,
is not only a Great Skier, but has a unique interest and collection of
Tremblant historical material that we hope at some point can be accessible.

We had hoped to add in some of our own material in Apres Ski last night, but
we were delayed in doing that, so for those anxious to see how the day turned
out, with these additions, there can be no question that it has been an
extraordinary conclusion to this season.

Future Tremblant Historians as well as those planning late season Tremblant
visits will be able to see that there is tremendous range of both recorded
and possible April conditions and that dedicated Tremblant Fans enjoy each
and every seasons end, within the context of the general conditions of that
particular season.

Some years are blessed with more abundant Snow and/or Winter conditions,
and this season is definitely a very fine example of that. Regardless of the
number of Open Trails at the close of each season though, we need to keep in
mind that Tremblant Crews make the optimal use of the resources they have, and
there is always great Skiing and Boarding within the Open Terrain.

Now that the Season has come to an end, over time, we'll add more
to this record as time permits. We must say, we've deferred other things
that we need to catch up on now, so additions will be made gradually.

As usual, our "WinterBook" is Open 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week,
and 365 days a year, right here in the Tremblant Mountain Conditions
Archive of Tremblant360.com.

So, while today Tremblant is closed for the season to the public, it is
our understanding that the Annual "Employee Day" is on today...

These Guy's 'n Gals deserve it, we hope you all have fun!

------------------- Apres Ski Early Edit at 6:15 P.M. -----------------------------

Late Night Apres Ski will follow

It was a white winter day with more fresh snow, no rain, not a drop
and lots of sun and spectacular views.

Pic's and details later, hopefully by 11:00 Pm.

Merci Tremblant !!!

52(*) Open Trails on the South and North Sectors of Tremblant
for the final day of the Spring 2013 Ski/Board season.

We are not sure how many times we've seen this amount of Snow
at Tremblant in mid-April.

Maybe three times over several decades....

All we can do is report the facts...

It was supposed to rain, and certainly, on the lower South there was a
drizzle-like precipitation, some might call it very light rain. We did have
our Descente Poncho's sitting in the North-side parked vehicle, but we did
not use them and despite some frontal garment dampness, we were dry
the entire day.

In the mean-time, all Summit and North Sectors remained primarily
"Winter" and "Snow" all day. We wondered if there might have been
a few moments of the drizzle-like activity on the lower North, but
when you looked closely, what ever it was, was bouncing off for the
most part, and it was definitely white. If it was causing dampness, it
was probably due to it being so close to freezing and body heat coming
to the surface of your outer shell.

The fastest, smoothest carving quality surface was arguably, Upper Nansen.

There were Corduroy samples like this one above all day long. It was
noticeably quick underfoot with lots of responsive carving/edge grip, and for
some reason, just plain fast....

...until you got to the Mi-Chemin intersection and the route to TGV, where
all of a sudden, the quick turned into not-so-quick and glide was reduced
to a fair degree. That was no problem though, it needed a few skating
steps or some good Shoulder work using Ski poles to push, but it was
worth the effort X 10 to experience the great, seamless surfaces of Nansen.

Obviously, it was foggy/snowy all day....

The qualities of the Snow are a very fine crystalline granular with a frosty edge.

Absolutely a "Winter" snow and lot's of it... so much so that Beginners would
have found it thick to navigate in places and we can tell you for a fact that even
experts would confirm that it took a demanding level of energy to get through
some thicker zones, especially if you were doing laps.

It will be interesting to see what Grooming has been done for the final day, today,
because it will have a marked impact on "User Friendly" quality for those
with skill levels below Expert, and the energy levels required for all.

Considering that the usefulness of content for today can not be used
for planning a "Tomorrow" visit, we'll abbreviate this portion of the report
to focus on getting out earlier to Ski and get final seasons pictures
for record keeping.

Speaking of records, this has to be one of the top 3 or so April's
we can recall in 4 decades of Skiing Tremblant, so over time, post-season,
we will do our best to expand the Apres Ski, Apres Ski Season archive
for the sake of future comparisons.

"Remember When...." is a phrase often used by those who are comparing
any attributes of "Today" to those of "Days gone by", and that will no doubt
be the case when we look back at this remarkably fine April of 2013.

Todays Weather.... Starts out... Supposed to be... Sunny Breaks,
to partially Sunny, clouding over... maybe... maybe even rain....
in the afternoon... a day-time high of + 6C. A totally mixed bag but
with a one way up temp scale.

Conditions Caveat: It can be thick and heavy in un-groomed areas
and it is very possible to catch an edge that can cause a tumble.
Resistance and or Friction rates can change within a few metres.
Be cautious with Speed and give extra room for safe passage
around other Skier/Boarder traffic.

To Be Here, Or Not To Be Here,

That is the Question....

As always, the answer is up to each one of us.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
