10 CM., 4 inches of Fresh Snow with mild, but
still sub-zero temps...
This is not a fancy action shot.... but....
....there isn't a single serious Skier or Boarder that
won't recognize what it means to the Quality of
their favourite Tremblant Winter Sport....

25(*) Open Trails at Tremblant today, with 2 Progressive,
additional Trails showing that are expected to Open as well.
"Saved By A Narrow Margin" .... That's a brief summary
of the Weather/Conditions relationship at Tremblant right
now as overnight South Base Levels were at -2C.
Below: Your "Good Morning" Eye Opener, Pic du Jour:
Riding up The Lowell Thomas Triple Chair gets you this
view first thing this morning. The sun is forecast to
come out later on. Our precious Alpine Snow Sports Snow Surfaces are
completely intact this morning and as yet, undisturbed
by any gross thermal effects.
Looking at the Summit Web Cam very early, -3C, a bit less than
the typical temp. spread between Summit and Base, but at least,
still on the cool side of the freezing mark. Hopefully, Mountain
Crews were able to keep up Snowmaking overnight.
Considering it's only December 3rd, very very early in the season
and still technically speaking "Fall", we have been, and are yet,
extremely lucky to have the favourable conditions that have provided
such a great start to a fine Ski/Board Winter.
Today is supposed to actually be partially sunny, but anyone looking up
at the sky is going to have doubts about that, it's quite grey and it
has an "All Day" sort of feel to it.
We're happy with the "grey" though, when the temp is even near
the freezing mark, solar energy is not good for snow.
Tuesday and Wed. are forecast to also be right around freezing,
Thursday is forecast to have a daytime high of +4C(we talk about
that below), But... Thankfully.... the over-night's are all predicted
to be sub-zero.
Bottom line on conditions is that they will be super easy and the
higher up the Mountain, the probability due to elevation, is that
they'll be more winter-like.
Surface conditions may vary a bit depending on Temp. ranges or sun
experienced, but we think there will be no loss of coverage at all.
It would have to be 24hr hot for quite a while, i.e., days... to harm
this much snow and that is just not the way the forecast looks at all.
You Should Be Making Tracks For Tremblant...
... if you can.
From Our Apres Ski Notes Yesterday:
"Specifically Addressed to Regional Tremblant Fans
that may have the discretionary ability to be at Tremblant
for Friday.
We look forward to the Opening of the North Side Base Level
every season with the enthusiasm for all the additional Trails
it usually includes.
We think this years North Side Opening is going to be a special one
though, because the amount of snow accumulated there seems to
be substantially greater than average.
Web Cam reviews have shown the North Base to be Natural Snow Covered
since before Nov. 22nd and most remarkably, Snowmaking has been going
on there since Nov. 22nd, Opening Day, and we can not recall any year
in our memory when that has happened before.
What this means, to us anyway, is that when the North Opens, it may well
be one of the best quality start-off's the North has ever seen.
If you can get the day off to be here for Friday, we think you'll be
rewarded with a day of epic quality for the North Side Opening.
Make your plans now Regional Tremblant Fans."
Further To That...
Here's some evidence to support our theory....
Our conclusion is that there is an exceptional amount of Snow
on the North from Both Natural And Blown Sources. We can Not
Recall Any Time that Snowmaking has started as early as Opening
Day on the North which is indicative of Mountain Crews faith that
stable Sub-Zero conditions would remain. Obviously they were correct.
We think Tremblant Guests will benefit with outstanding
initial conditions when this sector Opens.
Even if the Weather gives a little thermal rise on Thursday,
in our opinion it will not significantly affect the great conditions
we expect here on Friday because there's just way too much Snow
on the ground to change anything much, especially with steady
over-night Sub-Zero's each and every night.
