1/18/14 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski.

Very Pleasant, easy day of fine carving, quick cruising and
Traffic generated daily moguls by one of the Seasons larger
attendance days.

We say the latter, specifically because what started out initially
at First Tracks, as almost endless, fresh Corduroy, finished
as some thigh burning fairly deep moguls on some of the steeper,
popular runs like Erik Guay, formerly Grand Prix, or McCulloch.

That evolution in surface conditions inspires early attendance
and in the words of one of our team, virtually a days Skiing
before the crowds arrive and the lifts get busy with some
line-up delays.

There was still loads of Flat, Groomed Terrain by days end
with high speed carving performance. Nansen was an example
of All-Day Super Smooth Durability. Even Expo has some smooth
cruising left by Last Run… Below:

There Were Some Icy Bits…

Perhaps one of the larger examples was the runout portion to the
Soleil Quad Chair. It has a rather flow-like character and in reality,
it is flowing, but only in a glacial sense.

As usual, the friendly staff of the Tremblant Info. Crews with their
distinctive Yellow/Orange Jackets with the huge “?” on the back, were out
in large numbers to assist Tremblant Guests with up-to-the-minute
Current Mountain News and Directions.

At Approximately 3:00 P.M., a fire started in one of the Upper Level
Condo Buildings at Hotel Du Lac which could clearly be seen from the
Summit, right down to P1. The building was a Total Loss despite Multiple
Fire Department Vehicles on site, eventually with a long Gantry boom.

It’s a scary thing to watch a building go up in flames. We hope there
were not any injuries. The fire went on for over 3 hours.

Only two questions allowed:

1) Do you have the Skills?

2) Do you have the Muscle?

We are amateur photographers using rudimentary gear
and this pic above was one of those ones where we think
about tossing it because it’s not good enough, but…

Then you realize, it is more than good enough to make a point,
and that’s why we decided to use it anyway. We think there isn’t
an experienced Alpine Winter Snow Sport Participant on the planet
that won’t know or be able to fully comprehend by looking at it, just
how fine the performance capabilities of these most excellent Groomed
Snow Surfaces here at Tremblant are, right now.

One of our main missions at Tremblant360.com, is to default to the
description of the Snow Surface Quality. You can see that by not only
the background, but by what we might call… “The Shred Factor”, i. e.,
how does the surface respond to the carved edge-set of Skis or Board
as you traverse the Trails... Looks pretty obvious to us...

In Fact… Tremblant has quite nearly 95% Excellent Winter
Snow which would be great on any given mid-January day,
but to have that... to be able to say that, 48 hours after the
end of a significant January Thaw Event is truly remarkable!

This pic. above summarizes that, fuzzy or not, in a very fine way.

Here’s another point…

If that was Yesterday… Today Will be Better….

First of all, it was Snowing quite hard at "Last Run”.

Secondly, overnight Grooming always adds incrementally
finer surfaces, so as long as there’s no overwhelming
weather type factors, things just naturally improve from
one day to the next.

These beautiful surfaces on Toboggan, Versant Soleil,
are going to be better than they were yesterday with
snow a bit finer and depth a bit deeper.

Another one of those Phuzzy Phast Photos….

Never let the “Green” designation of Sissy Schuss fool you.
SINCE 1948, it has been one of the finest technique development
runs on Earth….

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
