1/20/14 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 10:30 P.M.

Depending on When.. and Where... you were at Tremblant Today...

It certainly was Sunny, along with Cloudy,

and it was also Foggy along with Clear,

…all at the same time.

Not only that, but anyone wondering about more Snowmaking
this season got their questions answered...

Behind all that Locally Generated Weather you see above,
dedicated Skiers and Boarders were trying to stay warm as
Mother Nature had Dropped Kool Temps down to -22 C in the
morning and while they did rise, both the wind and your descents
Air Speed worked to Chill if there was even the slightest gap in
outer layers.

Yesterdays Snow came delivered by a Sou-West wind, more or less
coming up the left(looking Down) side of Soleil and propelling it right
across the Summit towards a bit of Duncan and a whole lot of the
Lowell Thomas sectors terrain.

Just as we suspected would happen, the North got
some beautiful accumulations of light, dry, fresh
drifted Snow, like this Banzai sample below:

At the end of the day…

It was all Sun and Shadow…

More Sun and Shadow

A fav North Side Last Run descent path is Andy Moe, Traversing
Beauchemin’s upper pitch to Axle, Lowell Thomas to Gagnon,
Side door of Sissy Schuss to Lower Fuddle Duddle and in.

Traversing Beauchemin affords this remarkable POV as you
look to the Summit Sunset over the Trail. This is one of our
favorite Pic. Settings and there’s no doubt, it’s been an
Excellent Day… Cool, but still Excellent.

Above: Taken Mid-Afternoon on Sissy Schuss, it’s quite obvious
that there is a vigorous Natural Snowfall in progress.

The Source Wind Direction Was SouthWest and if you had been on the Duncan
Quad, rising up the final crest was an “In Your Face” experience!

But… a TON of new Snow was being propelled over to drift in on the North…

So Then… While yesterday’s ambience was dominated by Snowfall,
today’s is going to be quite a bit different as a weather front has passed
through from the North, headed South, bringing a big load of “Kool” …
as in “Cold” so the temps at first tracks are -22C at the Summit.

There is very high level overcast that is thin enough to glimpse slivers
of Blue Sky and the forecast does say partially sunny.

SKIING AND BOARDING… EXCELLENT.

That’s it. Go if you can.

Open Trail Status can often be a “Dynamic” thing in the sense
that Weather factors may cause unscheduled changes. That is when
the Staff of the Tremblant Info Crews are invaluable. They are all kept
up-to-the-minute aware of lift and trail status and they are ALWAYS accessible
at the Summit when you disembark from all lifts to the top.

Even Those That Ski/Board Tremblant every day can Benefit because…

The Info. Crews are “Radio Controlled” i.e., they have individual
Mobile Communications Radios and they are tapped in to Mountain
Operations, so they literally have Instant Updates that can be useful
to ALL Tremblant Guests. They are FULLY Bilingual and there is no such
thing as a bad question, so regardless of what info you need, you can
feel confident approaching these very friendly folks anytime.

Today will be a prime example of that when the Official Open Trail
List is Variable. Talk to them to find out about the very latest updates.

We had a Great Opportunity yesterday to watch the Pro’s of Tremblant’s
World Class “Ecole Sur Neige” Ski Instructors doing Group work. We are
always interested in Technique Development, so any chance we get to
observe them in action we take with much enthusiasm.

There is a lot of new snow over already excellent

surfaces, so any decision to make it out is a good one.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
