This Will Tell You Most Of What You Need To Know
Right Now About Tremblant.
Sweetheart Conditions on Sweetheart Terrain!
--------------- 7:39 A.M. Orig. Post -----------------
93(*) Open Trails on the 4 Snow-Being-Fallen-On Slopes of Tremblant.
It’s Snowing Now, and It’s been Snowing for several hours.
It’s not the Blizzard that has basically Shut Down the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S.A.,
but it will definitely contribute to the overall Quality of Tremblant’s base.
Happy Valentines Day!
Current Groomed Trail Quality.
Above: This Overhead Shot of Kandahar’s Very Fine Surfaces Instantly
Illustrates the Universal Quality Of All Tremblant’s extensive array
of Immaculately Groomed Slopes. Endless Corduroy and Damn Near Perfect.
Below: Here’s one of our Favourite Views Anywhere On Planet Earth…
Part of the Beauty of Tremblant’s Trail System is the Intersecting
Network that permits an almost endless variety of Descent Combinations
that permit both multiple Trails and Conditions to be used in Sequence,
so it is possible to have a Descent that has GS Style Cruising, Slalom
Style Tight Fall-Line Rapid Turning, Bumps, Steeps, or whatever your
Heart desires, all in one Top-To-Bottom descent path.
The Pic Above is what we call the Mid-Point Entrance to Nord, North Side
Trail “Banzai”, accessed from the Cat Track that goes laterally from
Lowell Thomas to Duncan. This portion of Banzai is Separate and very
distinct from the Upper Portion in that it is Wider, Flatter from Side-to-Side,
less pitch and when Groomed, holds it’s wonderfully User-Friendly
smoothness for days and days and days. On top of that….
Banzai’s Scenic Quality at this point is Worthy of the Best, Iconic,
Tremblant Postcard Status… Absolutely Beautiful in ANY weather!
Additionally, even though it is rated as a Black Diamond Expert Trail,
when it is in this superbly smooth shape, just below the distant crest
this pic. shows, there is an old Cross-Cut Mountain access Trail that
permits a right turn to Marie-Claude Asselin’s more gentle bottom
descent portion, so we will take a confident Intermediate here and
they will be well able to handle it with even basic Snowplow type
turning skills. Tremblant Fans we take here are always Thrilled by
the simple, stunning beauty Mother Nature reveals here every single day.
Mean-While, Over on Versant Soleil… Algonquin is in wonderful Cruising
Condition, Groomed Smooth and Swift.
This is the way this Trail Shines and there is no doubt, at least in our opinion,
this Beautiful, Gentle Descent is already a Tremblant Classic. Rated a Green,
but useful for all skill levels for Technique refinement.
Moving on… to Expo!
Above: Expo’s Main Pitch generally has Very Good “Shred Depth” as you can see
here, but the portion just above this pic, the steepest bit below the runs mid-point
crest, does have Icy patches of Traffic Scraped exposed base. If there are
any icy bits on the Mountain, in our experience, they’re only found below crests.
If you are aware of that pattern, you can avoid any trouble by simply reducing
speed over unexplored crests, just in case you happen across an Icy bit.
----- ---- Conditions Caveat ---- -----
There Are Some Minor Icy Patches, We have only found them
below a few Crests. They are small in dimension, none of them
we’ve found are more than 3 meters in span and they are very
easily traversed. With well tuned edges, they almost don’t exist,
however, if you happened to be making a turn, and you don’t have
the freshest of Edges, a momentary loss of traction could result
in an upset.
---------------------- End of Caveat ----------------------
Weather Notes:
Snowing, Heavy Drifting in some places, Strong North, Nor-West Winds
crossing the Summit from Nansen Sector towards Duncan.
Very Easy -7C, rising to -5C, but the breezes still want good seals
on outer layers to optimize comfort.
A Nice, Snowy, Winter Day!
Conditions Notes:
