T360 Apres Mid Night, Apres Ski @ 12:38 P.M.

The Hypothesis we made in our original post early this morning
about today being Arguably, The Best Day Of Season, So Far...
was borne out in our opinion, and there were absolutely phenomenally
“User Friendly” Carving descents on all 4 sides of Tremblant.

We shared time with a Family from Yorkshire, U.K. and as we rode up
the Expo Quad we said “You’ll be able to go on-line and see the
same scene we’re riding through here at Expo Quad Tower 15, and
so will your grandchildren’s children, hopefully for the next 100 years
and More. So Dear Yorkshire Family, Here is the scene as promised…
Thank Goodness it was a Spectacular, Great Ski Day. You’re Lucky to
have had such magnificent Snow Surfaces, Arguably, the Best Day Of
The Season… so far….

Most of the frosty wee Ball Bearing's we wrote about, are gone from
the trees now.
Warm Winds and quite a bit of Solar energy, pretty much zapped all
that Snow in the uninsulated Tree Boughs, but not a single flake was
out of place on the Ground as it was all packed and groomed into the
Ultra-Smooth conditions.

As far as Tomorrow is concerned…

We hate to have to record this, but for the sake of Driving Safety….

We’ll have to see how this works out, but if you’re driving, you may
need to reschedule timing.

92(*) Open Trails on the Prime Winter Coverage of 4 Sides Of Tremblant.

(Please note: We had a small operational glitch with photography
yesterday. Residue on lens U.V. filter compounded already Grey light.
Sorry about that, problem corrected.)

This May Arguably Be The Best Day Of The Season...

Prime Reason Being… Incremental Daily Refinements/Improvements
In Grooming Under Sustained, Stable, Consistant Sub-Zero Weather,
In Addition To The Unique Qualities Of Yesterday’s Weather .

…and that possibility should motivate you to Jump Into Action!

So, we hope YOU ARE NOT READING THIS… because you are already
out for First Tracks or you are behind the wheel and pulling into P1
very shortly.

Yesterday Morning awoke to not only a very user friendly Warmer day,
but much of Tremblant being covered in what amounts to Billions and Trillions,
maybe even “Kajillions” of tiny, frosty, Snow Particles akin to microscopic
“Ball Bearings”, attached to both Trees and more importantly, Trail Surfaces.

Close up, they look like this Pic taken yesterday afternoon, Trail-Side,
Lowell Thomas.

This coating of “Icing Sugar” Snow effectively transformed all of the Groomed
it covered, Plus... much of the un-groomed into a superlative High
Performance Carving Nirvana of immense Grip and Lateral Traction,
so much so, that you were most likely to run out of Muscle far sooner
than you could sample all the vastness of its coverage.

Scaled up from the Macro above, below you can see how these conditions
covered all of the North and the South from Mid-Level up to Summit.

Due to the warmer temp that briefly saw a slight blip above freezing at the
South Resort Base, it was not as fast as it had been in the recent Cold phase,
but that had nothing to do with how much fun it was, because slightly slower
or not, the transformation almost exponentially increased the Forgiving Qualities
of the Surfaces, so there was far less chance to loose Edge control and far
greater chance to hang on to Extreme Angulation for some truly remarkable
“Stand On It Sideways” Carving.

We think that with overnight Grooming and Settling, there is a very high
probability that those conditions will be repeated today, but with the
Incremental Improvement that occurs every day with stable Sub-Zero
Temps, making this potentially the Best Day of the Season So Far.

If Super Cold Firm Snow responds to Subtle Control Inputs of Edging,
then this ever-so-slightly Super Fine Moister Snow will(if you choose), take Brute
Muscle Force. You can use it to more easily over-rule Gravity… but, it is not too
soft to still use finesse when you want to cruise, or take it easy for a while to
recuperate from Higher Energy runs.

There will be some who prefer the outright Speed and almost effortless
float over surfaces of Cold Snow, however, there’s nothing we can do about
the Weather, so now we get to work with the Laws of Physics on a different
level that can be appreciated for it’s own characteristics.

Weather Notes:

Mostly Sunny, South Base Level High Temp @ Zero,
West winds, moderate to strong moving across the
Summit from Taschereau towards the Lowell Thomas
Triple Chair.

At These temps with these Surfaces….Conditions Excellent!

Conditions Notes:

Bottom line(s)…

Surfaces Are Not Quite So Fast, But Considerably More Flexible.

Today’s the day you can take all those hours of practice you’ve put
in so far this season refining your technique, and test some limits
of personal performance at speeds that won’t kill you because the
surfaces are more forgiving to recovery from minor errors.

Bottom Line #2… Tremblant360 Rules of Skiing #5…

"Those who can adapt the quickest, have the most fun."

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
