Things Could have been a Lot Worse, Weather Wise today.
We have posted an “After” Web Cam Array for your evaluation/comparison
to the “Before” Grouping. Both are shown below in the body of the Orig. Post.
We hope tomorrow will be as Excellent as the Potential indicates,
we also hope you can make it out. With All 4 Sides “Open”, i.e.,
South, North, Edge and Soleil Sectors, it promises to be one of
the last opportunities to access the full extent of Tremblant’s Total
Terrain.

Apres Ski Edit “After”….
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
At This(8:15) Moment… -2 C and Snowfall… but...
Get Ready for the "Warm Slap Of Spring From Mother Nature”...
Here is the Weather Summary from our Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski
which is still directly applicable.
There is very little doubt that the day may end substantially different than
it is beginning…
The Skiing and Boarding will be Fabulous …. Regardless of Weather…
because…
This is going to be literally the first “Spring-Like” day of “Plus” value
daytime temps, and consequently there is no cyclical overnight “Icy”,
in the base this morning. Technically Speaking this will yield a unique
day of flawless change from “Winter” to “Spring” Surface Characteristics.
(Tomorrow will be quite different… but more on that later.)
The rate at which the change happens is yet to be seen, but in our opinion,
the single biggest influence will be Wind Speed.
We call it … “The Blow Dryer Effect”.
try this at home...
Put 2 Ice cubes in Tea Cup Saucers on the Kitchen Counter at opposite ends.
Let one just sit there…
Plug in the Blow Dryer, switch it on to “Max” and point it at the other one.
Start The Clock…
The results will become all too obvious… and that, unfortunately, is what is
likely going to happen here later on today. It’s not quite that dramatic on the
Slopes at Tremblant due to the fact that the Ice Cube getting the Blow Dryer
does not have the benefit of 6 feet of Base and Frost under it, but non-the-less,
the very top, exposed to wind, surface layer will get melted… and quick.
But..., Due to Elevation and the Whims of Mother Nature, the outcome
is not yet totally predictable, although the probability is high for fairly
significant surface thawing….
Because…
If the temps of the winds aloft were even slightly cooler… at this close to
the freezing mark the Summit and The North Summit Sectors could actually
see a lot of Snow!
We can only hope at this stage… (The Weather Forecast might be Wrong(Gasp!))
In Any Event… none of this will significantly erode the Base today.
We feel there’s way to much frost in even the top layers of the Base
to do much of that in a short period of time. We feel the most
probable outcome is a skin of icy surface overnight, some of which will
be groomed out, the rest will soften up quickly in tomorrow mornings
forecasted Sunshine and daytime high of +4 C.
Welcome To “Spring Skiing”! …
but with virtually Flawless, 100% Coverage!
Only time will tell how long the “Flawless, 100% Coverage" will last so...
Plan To Attend Early And Often For The Most Ideal Spring Conditions!

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
