4/6/14 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski Edit….

We frequently write that Tremblant’s more Northerly Latitude is beneficial
within Regional Weather comparisons that are conducive to “Winter” Ski/Board
conditions...

Today was just such a day.

The way we summarize that is “Thank Goodness For North” because when it comes
to Winter Alpine Snow Sports, even when it’s very clearly “Spring” season,
“North” is almost always better than “South” for both the Retention and Quality
of trail Surfaces.

In this case, what we would want to point out to future Spring Skiing
Vacation Planners is that it was +12 C in central Vermont when Tremblant
had a daytime high of +9 C. The difference may not seem like much, however
as you will see following herein, that can make a huge difference on the
Mountain where Elevation saved Tremblant’s Trail system from any significant
thermal exposure with a brief +1 C in the late afternoon.

Typically, Tremblant’s Elevation Differential is 4 to 5 C Cooler, but for some
wonderful reason, today it was 8 Degrees C cooler at the Summit and that
is going to be a major factor in the extension of Great Spring Conditions for
Tomorrow.

At Noon, there was still no sign of Summit exposure to “Plus” temps…

These Three End-Of-Day Screenshots were recorded within 2 minutes
and they are one of the most important reasons we say…

“Thank Goodness For North”...

The real importance of this third one is the “Snow in the Trees”, evidence
that up to this point the uninsulated tree boughs have not been exposed to
thermal “Plus” values which would melt the snow in minutes if had occurred.

It is the very narrow range of borderline to Zero C “Tipping Points” that
keep Tremblant’s exceptional conditions “Winter-Like” not only longer
into the Spring, but get them there earlier into Fall as well.

46(*) Open Trails and a TON of Progressive Openings to follow
on the Overnight, Freshly Snowed on Slopes of Tremblant.

While there’s been a fair amount of rain in the
recent regional weather…

With Temps so close to Zero, we’ve been talking steadily
for the last two days about:

"Consequently, we think there’s a good chance that could be
All Snow on Mountain Elevations!"

As far as Conditions go, it’s definitely going to become Primo “Spring”,
as daytime Hight temps are forecast to hit +9 C. With a fairly strong
Westerly Wind moving rapidly across the Summit from TGV towards
Duncan the thawing will occur quite quickly.

As far as the scenery goes, the Wind driven Solar energy is probably
going to cook the Snow out of the trees, but we don’t think any of that
will reduce hardly a single degree of coverage today. There’s just way too
much frost underneath.

you can still make it for the best part of the day… GO NOW! …especially if
you’re any kind of Seasons Pass holder.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

---------------------------------------------------
It was a busy Day on the Mountain and the attendance reflected
the keen interest of Regional Tremblant Fans to participate in the
Super Easy Weather and Very Fine Spring Skiing.
