The Skiing And Boarding Are Going To Be A Lot Better Than
Many Will Either Expect Or Give Credit For...
At least to begin with...
Anyone looking at the weather forecast for today as a primary decision
component of “Go” or "No-Go" will probably crawl back under the covers
for a lazy Sunday morning sleep-in, but as is often the case…
Things could be a lot worse… and we respectfully suggest that
you NEVER base your “Go” decision solely on the Weather report,
which in this case, and very typically, is misleading when there are
multiple “Tipping Point” factors that can greatly effect actual conditions.
Firstly, if you scroll back to Yesterday using the “Previous Topic” button
located in the upper right corner of this pages message, you will see a
Weather Network Graphic annotated with comments about how the
forecasted overnight rain "might actually be Snow on the Mountain"…
No Serious Tremblant Fan Can Ignore The Value Of The Web Cams
As One Primary Element Of Any “GO” Decision.
We were right, at least in the specific reference to “Overnight”, so
even though the rest of the day could see highly variable effects of
“wet”, “warm” and “wind” all in any combination one could attach to
“Spring”… to start off with, the Skiing and Boarding could actually be
pretty decent!
It’s Not Teaming Rain… There’s still a Great Base… The Summit was Sub-Zero
by a single degree last night… so as long as you have good edges and if
you have any sort of “Warm” range on the bases of Skis or Board…
there will be a surprising amount of Performance and Fun on a Grey Day
that many would discard.
Naturally, the cynical, glass half empty sarcastic crowd will be critical
of us for being ”Too Positive”, however we can categorically state… as we have
many times… that we have never had a bad day at Tremblant…
...Enjoyment is directly proportional to preparation, so having a Descente Poncho,
the below mentioned Yellow Lens’s, and any other modes of adaptation are
all that are needed for fun today, or any day like today.
Think of it this way… if everything was identical surface wise, but it was
brilliantly Sunny like yesterday, everyone one would be raving, so what’s
the difference? Some Fog? Some Drizzly dampness, maybe even rain?
We can adapt for any of that…
What about the people that booked “Spring Skiing” 6 Months ago from the
comfort of their home in rural Devon, U.K. or maybe New Jersey, U.S.A.,
and the only time they could get here is now?
Should they crawl under a rock today? NEVER! Firstly, it’s not -30C, so
with very little prep. You, They, Us, and Them… can all have fun anyway!
As usual for us… if there’s a strip of Snow “Open” and a way to get to
the top of it… we’re on it! We Ski Tremblant in ALL weather and have
fun doing it too!
“YELLOW LENS” Utility Notice In Effect: Foggy, Grey, Flat, Low Contrast Light
can be about 85% overcome in terms of restoring Contrast and Surface
Detail with the simple use of Yellow Lens’s in either Goggle frames OR…
inexpensive Yellow Lens Safety Glasses available at any Hardware Store.
Remember… at temps near, at or above freezing… you are not worried about
“warm” so you don’t need the face seal of Goggles and Yellow Lens Safety
Glasses in Curved Face Contours offer far greater free air movement that
keep them internally fog free. On top of that…. if they do get wet, you don’t
need to be fussy about cleaning them off like you do with the sensitive coatings
of many high end Goggles.
Weather Notes:
Based on what’s going on to the West of us in South-Eastern Ontario, compared
to what was forecasted, and what we see outside now, we think we might
even see some Sun, or at least Brightness during “Open” hours
in the Afternoon sky!
Otherwise, the daytime high is supposed to be around +7 C and there’s a
“Heavy Rainfall Warning” Officially Posted.
Who Do You Believe? What are the chances Weather Forecasters could be wrong?
If there’s a big rain risk, it seems later today/tonight would be the peak
exposure… time will tell.
