In a way, this “Last Run” picture taken on Nansen Bas is Surprising...
It’s perhaps difficult to imagine that after a busy weekend, Corduroy
could be found anywhere, but when you’ve been Skiing Tremblant this season...
...Durable Quality is not surprising at all.
If you look at the arch cut by the outside ski you’ll see why we added the
“Razor Sharp Edge Hold” to the Pic.file title data.
As the skis were effortlessly slicing through this Corduroy, it took a second or two
to realize... Wow, Last Run Corduroy! ... Connect The Dots... Take a Picture...
but... there was actually a fair bit of speed to get safely arrested... turns out that
was no problem... snow with this much traction can hold a TON of braking energy,
so the snow goes flying as the “Speed” becomes “Stopped” in less than a heartbeat.
Climb back up a dozen metres or so and there’s the High Speed Evidence...
Razor Sharp, High Speed, Very Safe, No One Around, Super tight, well defined
Carves with Minimum Drag and Maximum Hold. We put the Skis against the
carved Track to show scale.
The vast majority of Tremblant’s Groomed Open Terrain may not have any corduroy
left by day’s end, but the Razor Sharp bit is still all there. Having this overall quality
is a wonderful privilege at any time, having it day after day with little, if any interruption,
is heavenly.
It is not perfect, only about 95%, but the Wind-blown exposed or icy bits are
all very predictable, so while we acknowledge there are glitches, they are very
small by comparison to the vast area of the super traction grip of the surfaces
you can see above.
We were right about the windy bits today... it was an “In your Face” experience
heading for Nansen, on the flip-side, there was a tailwind going down Beauchemin
so at times, it felt still, while you were going at a fair clip.
There’s a New Terrain Feature on Johannsen, South Resort Base.
Here’s a telephoto of it from across Lac Tremblant.
Anyone here for a Ski/Board Holiday this week coming up is going to have
a great All White Winter Week!

The Variety of Rated Terrain right across the entire spectrum of Skill Levels
from Beginner to Expert offers opportunity to improve for every single person
that has the privilege of Skiing or Boarding at Tremblant now.
Obviously, dedication to any Winter Alpine Snow Sport comes at many different
degrees that may include, but are not limited to, the following.
There are people who come out to Ski or Board because their friends drag
them along, and/or they’re “Social” and want to be part of the group.
There are people who come out because they are bored sitting indoors all winter.
There are people who come out because they “Do” something every Season, as in
Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Then there are people who come out because they have always had a Passionate
Desire to become the very best at what-ever type of Winter Alpine Snow Sport
they participate in, and frankly, they would be happy to skip or vastly shorten all
those other “Seasons” so they could stay on Skis or Board for as long as possible...
The latter group, the Very Passionate Alpine Winter Snow Sport Fans will always
take care of themselves, they don’t need much more in the way of motivation, but
they do have one very important function outside of their general inclination to be
on the Mountain as much as possible. That is to Promote Skiing and Boarding
as worthy endeavours to become better at, to become more physically fit from,
and to encourage more frequent involvement for all the benefits that come from
not only including Skiing/Boarding as excellent forms of Healthy, Vigorous Exercise,
but the sense of personal satisfaction and growth that comes from actually improving.
Our Audience may be quite small compared to the High Budget Mass Marketing
of the commercial Ski/Board Industry, but we have no doubt that our Group
is made up of mostly those passionate folks we identify with who are never
content to remain stagnant, and are very happy to seek personal improvement
from even the slightest way possible, right on up to “Breakthrough’s” in technique
advancement, whenever they hit the Slopes.
You Get Better Because You Understand the Benefits of Practice.
We Appreciate your Enthusiasm and we offer Positive Re-enforcement for
your Dedication to Investing your Time and Learning Efforts at Tremblant
where Terrain from World Class Gold Medal Performance Ski/Board Training,
to some of the very finest Beginner/Intermediate Slopes on Earth exist
within this one Domain of Outstanding Technical Merit at Any Level.
Those are just some of the Valid Reasons We promote Learning at Tremblant.
We Promote Low Level Flight Training At Tremblant...
...’cause they got really big jumps here!
Above: Fridays unusual Sky was like a Giant Umbrella over the Summit. The Snow
started about 3:00P.M. and kept on going off and on until the middle of last night.
Weather/Condition Notes:
Yesterday was Warm and Grey @ -4C, but today is Sunny and Cool at a forecasted
high of -16C. The Nor-West Wind at strong and gusty velocities will be a factor
as it comes up Beauvallon/La Crete so a "Bundle Up” Advisory is in effect.
The New Snow may have been drifted around a fair bit and with that wind push over
the Summit, quite a bit of that drifting could be in the upper Nord, North Sectors
between Lowell Thomas and Superieur.
Conversely, there may be wind-exposed slick or icy bits where the steady force
of air movement can reveal the base, so caution with speed around wind facing
land contours like crests or wide open steep pitches is recommended.
