T360 Early Apres Ski Intro. @ 7:30 P.M.

Lets start with this...

In the last 10 years, we might have seen 50 Cm’s Powder Snow Drift Lines
maybe 5 or 6 times?

Today was one of those.

We wrote earlier that Summit/Nord,North/Edge Sectors could see Drifting...
You Be the Judge...

Parts of Sud, South, got lots ‘o Snow too...

Whatever the Snowfall “Stat’s” say... we can tell ‘ya fer’ a fact...
there were whole Sectors of the Mountain that got Drifting way more...

Experts get Best Results, but there will be lots of Green, Beginner Terrain out
there, Groomed, for first thing tomorrow morning!

More later depending on Pic.Processing over 200 images
that are all suffering from Flat, Low Contrast, Ultra Blowing,
Snowy Grey, White-Out Light Conditions... Poor Photography = Exciting Skiing!

This is not a Blizzard, but it is an Excellent Refresher/Powder Addition...
...and with the Moderate Westerly Wind, there is also the potential for a
Versant Nord, North Side, Summit/Edge Sectors “Drift-In Alert”!

The Groomed Open Terrain Prediction: EXCELLENT.

The Un-Groommed, Experts Only Terrain Prediction: Very Fine with Cautionary Notes.

The Un-Groomed Experts Only Terrain is also going to be elevated by
this snow, however current "Natural Hazards Advisory” still applies
on an "A la Carte" Basis. Each Individual Un-Groomed Trail Will Require
Caution On Initial Explorations. The New Snow will enhance all Open Terrain,
but it is not enough to bury everything... yet.

Weather Notes:

Very Simple... An Excellent, Snowy, January Winter Day!

-8C, with Overcast and Snowfall All Day.
Westerly Moderate Winds that may create very beneficial Drifting Patterns
in some Sectors, notably, Summit/Nord/North/Edge.

If you are a Regional Resident, Put your Tremblant plans in motion as soon as you can.
The whole Ski/Board Population of the East Coast Of North America has been waiting
for these kinds of conditions and they are here now.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Continued Apres Ski, Under Construct @ 10:45 P.M.

(Partial Draft For at least some of tomorrow mornings “Conditions" reporting.)

All Sectors of Tremblant got some of this large dose of New, Natural Snowfall.
But... as indicated in the Early Intro. to Apres Ski(top of this Topic/Date)....
Some got way “more" than others, and that’s the part that we’re interested in,
for at least two reasons.

1) So Much Snow In Such A Short Time... An Alpine Skiers Dream! ...at least
for Experts who were searching for a whole day of “More” and “Fun” on so much
Great Terrain!

2) Where were the sectors that got “More" because were the Snow Goes, we can
expect an acceleration of Quality Advantage in those zones directly proportional to
the amount of “Extra” snow they got that may carry them forward for many, many
weeks, if not for the rest of the Season, depending on long term weather.

1.18.16.Nansen.Haut.Upper.Vigorous.All.Day.Smooth.Snowfall.c.jpg

The wind was Westerly, and quite a bit stronger on the Mountain than the forecast
called for. McCulloch was being somewhat windblown, not to mention Snow-Fog Blown,
but to the adjacent Northerly quarter, Nansen, that exists in a ravine descending on the
right side of Beauvallon/Alpine, has it’s gentle curves in that ravine, just enough below
Beauvallon’s topographical contour, to create a “Lee-Side”, wind sheltered zone that
the new snow swirled into all day.

The principle Drifting New Snow Advantages we found were on the North and Edge
sectors where Trail Drifting was as high as 50 Cm’s, Knee Height, on select
Edge Open Terrain and as high as 40 Cm’s on Summit North, Open Terrain.
Amazingly enough, 40 CM Powder Lines on Ptit Bonheur(Pic.Post top-of-page)
and similar on Banzai Bas, Lower, as well as Saute-Moutons.

As usual... Where there was good drifting, it was typically within narrow
Trails that have big trees on either side acting as both Scoops and retainers.
Snow lies much better on the ground where there’s shelter from those
pesky breezes.

The Apres Ski Intro at the top of the Orig. Post today summarizes the
3 major beneficiaries, and of those, the Edge Sector may have the
deepest deposits of drifted snow, but not necessarily the largest square
area of extra snow.

There were lots of locals who spent the whole day between the Edge, and off the
Expo Quad Peak.

Big Snow Means Fun For Today.... Insurance For The Season!
