11/29/16 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

Quick T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 6:45 P.M.

Sorry, can’t give you much in the way of Apres Ski Pic's ‘cause
freezing rain swamped out camera function to Shut-off Failsafe Mode.

So, even though there was freezing rain at the Summit, none of that
was destructive. Freezing rain is froze, not erosive, so it just sits there
on top of trail surfaces until Groomers chew it up later on. No problem.

For the most part surfaces were icy though, but even that’s not all bad.

It was a good day for “Technical Skiing”, a low compact stance, slow speed,
and very softly applied, yet deliberate, gradual edging.

There was one Rip-Roaring Sweet Spot...

From the top of the Beauvallon final pitch(adjacent to lower Alpine), down to the TGV
Base, the snow surfaces were “Smokin’ Hot" Carving Property.

There was exactly enough Shred Traction to Mega-Carve Trenches all the way down
to the TGV Base Loading Zone.

An amazing Sweet Sector within an otherwise challenging day, we spent
practically our whole time playing with the best lines to Air Jump the contours
a la Roller-Coaster Rail Ride on the bottom half of Beauvallon Haut!

Muscles Toasted but big smiles anyway...

We may be able to salvage one pic. there later on, but no promises...

See Body Of Orig. Post Below For 5 Day Weather detail... tomorrow could
start out quite nicely?

If it gets soft enough, “Spring Skiing” for a day? Regardless, we’ll be there.

Oh, by the way... we don’t think this little Mother Nature Thermal Burp
will have any great effect on Conditions. It’s way too short and not very warm,
so we think at worst, it may take a day or so to Fine-grind top layer icy bits,
then back to winter....

5(*) Open Trails on the finely evolving Winter Slopes of #Tremblant.

(Please Note: All of 11.28.16 Pic’s are effected by naturally occurring atmospheric
suspended crystals and/or Snowmaking air borne crystals resulting in a somewhat
and variable hazy filter that in the reality made it seem dream-like due to the
prismatic colour refraction that was diffused throughout all the bright sunlight.
Hard to capture accurately with camera, but very special to see firsthand.
Almost like floating through a rainbow.)

Yesterday was just one of those “Out of nowhere”, unexpectedly excellent sun days
but in-so-far-as Surface Conditions, we expect all of that to carry forward to today.
The difference is going to be in the return to a more winter-like, Snowy-Grey ambiance
with gusty Summit winds that will need close attention to outer layers that shield
and insulate.

We put a note in about the Unique Atmospheric Conditions, Top-of-page, and this pic.
below shows pretty much all of those effects at once. From the standpoint of Terrain
Expansion, it’s good to see all the active snowmaking. It seems to us that with natural
and blown snow being simultaneously accumulated, the end result may be a synergistically
enhanced Opening Quality Level on new Terrain.

You’ll still be able to train exactly the way we did yesterday and regardless of
Skill Level, you should find easy surfaces for control inputs that are also quite
forgiving for corrections. There is not much ice around, although the sharpness
of your edges will likely be directly proportional to your perceptions of any icy bits.
You may need to be prepared for damp/wet factors as per Special Weather Notes below.

There are some slick and or icy bits in the usual steepest pitch centres after daily
traffic cycles, but they evolve over the course of the day’s use, and not necessarily
in more or less icy, but often in more or less dimensions. Compared to the
overall 52 acres of Open Terrain, the glitch zones are tiny.

It may feel cooler because it's breezier and it's back to overcast.
There is potential Rainy dampness, so bundle up a bit and head
out for a fine early Winter Ski/Board day anyway!

With base temp’s this close to Zero, the Summit and North have a
good chance of remaining Snowy and just Sub-Zero at elevation,
and the foundation of the great base is still at 100%.
