Developing New Terrain.

The Snowguns are on over the Expo Peak with both Gagnon, down to Lowell
Thomas Base, and Vanier, down to Duncan Bas, Lower. We think there’s a good
possibility this Sector may come on line for the weekend, but we could be wrong.

The Sunshine forecasted was only practically visible in distance, but looking
back up at the above photo certainly underscores how much even a small
amount of sunshine can add such a beautifully cheerful effect on the magnificent
panoramas at Tremblant.

It is absolutely tremendous to be able to Ski to the bottom, get in your car and go home.
No fuss, no downloading, no crowd, go at your own pace, it’s the first day of Full Mountain
Vertical via Beauchemin Bas, Lower, and we appreciate that more than words can express.
The performance in the New Open Terrain is quite good for day one. A courser particle size,
even some chunky bits, but overall a very nice wide track on Beauchemin Bas
with very few glitches at all. After a nights Grooming, tomorrows surfaces should
see a positive change, particularly in the reduced size of the particles on the one
slight pitch below the “Edge” Entrance.

Sweet Carving on Beauchemin Bas, all day, to very last run.

It’s not a fancy action shot, It’s not one of those iconic Tremblant panorama’s,
but to Dedicated Tremblant Ski/Board Fans...

Total Mountain Vertical Access is one of the single most significant Ski/Board utilities.

Under Construction Yesterday... Progressively Opening Today!

This Opening allows not only all the benefits of sustained One Run Maximum Vertical,
but as well, using the Duncan Quad means the 8 minute ride to the Summit gets you
that total in a similar amount of time as the slower accent rate of the Lowell Thomas
Fixed Triple Chair that yesterday only got you half. So, all of a sudden, for virtually the
same Lift-Ride Time, you’re Skiing or Boarding a lot more. Additionally, as a High Speed
Detachable Quad, Duncan has a far greater Persons/Per/Hour cargo capacity, so on
week days like today, Zero Lines.

No doubt, as Newly Opened Terrain, it will be popular, but it’s huge capacity will
quickly upload any numbers of the attendance here today, so any initial rush
should be very rapidly moved.

As an added Bonus... All the Local Versant Nord Residents can now use the Nord,
North Side Parking and Base Lodge facilities, so there will be far less driving and
a lot more convenience for everyone who regularly uses this access point.

Race Team Training Continues On...

As usual, Race Teams from a radius of at least 600 Kilometres pour onto the
Fine Pre-Season Slopes at Tremblant for the all-important conditioning and
instruction that sets them up for their Competition Schedules. The above shot
taken at the run-out of the Nansen pitch is typical of what you might find on
various trails that get used on a rotational basis. As other Terrain gets Opened,
the “Race” designated slopes change, but in the mean-time, this Nansen sample
is a very good location with a steep enough pitch to require good technical skills
in the gates.

Snowmaking...

Snowmaking is being conducted in several important areas. This shot below
is a good example of Terrain being developed for opening soon on the Nord, North side.

There are two primary Snowmaking objectives as we understand it for this week.
With the Upcoming 24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser, the first is the Snowmaking
support necessary for the course and associated Sud, South Resort Base Event
zones.

The second is all the new terrain under way for regular Skiers/Boarders who
are not associated with the event and are just out for days on the slopes.
Tremblant has been very sensitive to their regular public and usually, there’s a
big surge in Terrain Openings for those people this week prior to the Charity Event.
Looking back up to the Top-of-Page Versant Nord, North Side base showing the
Duncan Quad, you can see there is big Snowmaking going on on the Duncan Trail
itself(**), so it’s reasonable to think that there could be substantial new terrain on
that side of the North inventory.

One More Major Sector Opening Is Possible...

If you consider the Snowmaking Icons on the Official data to be more-or-less
a preview of upcoming openings, then seeing Gagnon and Vanier off the top
of the Versant Nord EXPO Quad Sector indicates a high probability that the Expo
Quad may be available for this upcoming weekend. Nothing is guaranteed, but
Mountain Crews are not in the habit of wasting time or resources, so we think
this is a strong possibility.

We will try for some Pic’s off the Duncan Quad today to show the progress on the
Vanier side as the chair passes overhead. Stay tuned for Apres Ski on that and more.

Conditions Notes:

Despite the cool of the night before last, there was a bit of friction in yesterdays snow.
Not sure why, but at this stage of the early season, humidity can play a role in that,
although there are many damp days that are really fast, so that does not explain
everything. Regardless, today is a new day and we’ll let you know if there’s more
“Glide” in the surfaces. One take-away from this is that appropriate Temp. Range
Ski/Board Base wax is always an asset in the “Glide” factors.

Otherwise, the still early season surfaces are generally very high quality traction,
but there are some icy substrates that can become exposed during the course of
a days traffic, so caution is warranted on an evolving basis as you see changes
occurring with passing traffic and time.

A very mild, easy and potentially Sunny day.
We specifically say “Potentially”, because early on here, it’s actually
quite overcast and furthermore, it looks like it’s going to be overcast
for quite a while. Currently there are no breaks in the cloud cover, no
signs of Sun peeking through... so far, it’s completely grey out there...
