T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit at 12:30 P.M.
The Sun Was Nice... The Snow Was Fast... The Wind Was Gusty...
The Temps were Cool... The Slopes were uncrowded!
And Then It Started Snowing, Hard.
The “Snowing” Part came in with the system entering the region
from the Nor-East, which you can see here below in the form of
airborne Snowflakes and the Black/Background.

Performance For All Skill Levels Was Excellent.
Fuddle Duddle was groomed several days ago and it’s been smooth ever since,
however with 35 or so cm’s, there are some soft moguls that need to be blasted
through or jumped over.

Below: New Prinoth “BR350” Groomer/Packer Machine Parked At Expo Quad Peak.
This unit is equipped with a “Winch Grooming” Assembly. The wire drum is over the
rear of the machine and it is fed out using the Gantry Arm which is currently facing
forward, over the cab. We might suspect that Expo/Cossak may be on the Groomed
list for tomorrow.

Over the past few days we’ve focused on the superlative conditions of
Tremblant’s “Green” Rated Terrain with P’tit Bonheur and Algonquin...

A review of Yesterday and it’s consequent impact on today will be incomplete
until tonights Apres Ski because there are too many “Wild-Cards" in the mix
to be comprehensively accurate. Also... we had a Training commitment at the Nord,
North Side Base for the day and we must say while we were at the Summit, we did
not Ski the South, so we will get there today for a first hand look.
Practically Speaking...
The wind made some lifts difficult to remain comfortable on. Soleil in particular
got the most “Feedback” as it’s accent speed plus the facing Wind Speed added
together made it a “One-Time” experience for most. People either went Nord, North,
or stuck with the Gondola as the facing exposure was described in no uncertain terms
as unpleasant.
Clinically Speaking....
The Skiing Is Excellent.

The wind had nothing to do with Excellent Nord, North Side Skiing, and as far
as we know, on any other Open Terrain(**).
Other than some very minor debris either stirred up by Grooming or pushed
around by the wind, most of the Open Groomed Surfaces remained very close
to flawless and at Last Run, believe it or not, there were still Corduroy lines to
be found on some Trailsides.
(**)Please Note: Despite Uncomfortable Wind Lift Feedback, There Was Almost No
Negative Trail Feedback that we heard, other than the occasional “Icy Bit” references
to some Steeper Pitches which we have been talking about for days anyway. These
glitches have typically been small and concentrated in similar areas such as entrances,
over crests, in narrowing restrictions or high traffic intersections, so they are in
patterns that can be safely and easily traversed. In our own personal experience,
we had a surprisingly pleasant day circulating off the Expo and Duncan Quad's, where
the wind was at your back and not only easy to deal with on the lifts, but on the ground
you could surprisingly find yourself in zones of Surface Level calmness.
The Freezing Rain Forecast that many were worried about did not materialize
in a significant way that we are aware of yet. At 3:00 A.M. we went outside and
at that point, at least in the Old Mt. T. Village, it was more like a Sleet-Pellet of
small size and depth. Some might even call it Granular Snow.

Conditions Notes:
Despite the Weather Drama many like to dwell on, we think there’s a
high probability that if you consider the Weather Conditions separately,
the Ski/Board Conditions may continue to be Excellent and we look forward
to confirming that in an early edition of Apres Ski.
There may be a variable small degree of Wind induced Icy Bits, as discussed, but
lets not forget the fundamentally high quality of the Groomed Terrain which
we have found to be completely intact, regardless of what’s going on in the air
above it, so far.
In the Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Un-Groomed, Glade Ski/Board conditions, there
are fabulous untracked Powder Lines over 150cm’s deep that have not had so
much as a single Skier over them yet. There are also some natural hazards
that get revealed with traffic. There are a few “Granite” substrates that can
be lurking under surfaces, but most of them are marked. As Usual... All
Un-Groomed explorations should be undertaken with due care and Speed control.
