The air temperature Over The Mountain for the last 30 some-odd hours
has been enough to soften up the top layers only and with quite a good
Holiday Weekend Sunday Crowd out today, we were very impressed with
how smooth most Trails remained all day.

Soleil Sector Algonquin is one of those currently “Impressive” Trails
that has been in exceptional shape for the last three weeks, and again
today. Most remarkable to have had this tremendous run of close to
flawless quality. You can also see in this pic. below that it was Snowing
again. There were times when the snowfall was quite thick, but it did not
last long at that intensity. It just seemed to be Snowing on and off all
afternoon.

There were some “Icy” in the centre, feedback comments about steeper pitches
like McCulloch, but after yesterday’s warmth, we did expect that would be possible.
Hopefully, we can get over there for a look tomorrow. It could all be different,
it will probably be all different tomorrow anyway.
Our case study for Black Diamond Terrain today was Nord, North, “Devils River”
and there was not so much as a small tiny spec of ice on it... anywhere that we
could find.

The traction on Devils River is an example of everything you might expect for
peak levels of Speed and Control. We think the speed is so good because of
the frost underneath. The Frost seemed to be keeping the top layers from
getting too deep or cut up and we think that can continue for several days
until the daytime temps get back below Zero C.

Another mostly Grey Day with a few “Damp" moments,
but surprisingly fast and excellent high traction
Groomed, Carving Surfaces.
Temps dropping back to -10C, so there could be some icy substrates in tomorrow’s
mix until the solar energy gets a chance to work on the “Firmness”.

Compared to all the Recent, Cool, Days Of Winter... this sure feels like “Spring”.
So Far, Winter has been characterized by the Very Grey Ambience Of Constant Snowfall.
Very few, relatively speaking, Sunny days, so when you get a sudden, almost
cloudless day, vastly longer daylight hours, OPEN TO 4:00 P.M., “+”6C, i.e. “Warm"...
all in one shot.... that sure feels like “Spring” to us.

In terms of the scenery, we will see changes in the “Snow In The Trees” as warm
air and sun work, but that’s just “Cosmetic”. None of that will have any effect
on the Trail Base that has all the Stored Refrigerant Cold Hard Frost Substrates
Supporting it from below.
Early Spring Conditions With Mature Fullness Of Winter Coverages.
In terms of the physical characteristics of the Top Layer Surfaces of the Alpine
Snow Sports Trail Network... this is the first night of +1C at the Summit, so we
do technically have a “Thaw” event, however minor, going on after yesterdays
sunny +6C.
There may be enough surface level Frost to offset the air temps for a few days
so Softness may be limited to a shallow depth, but if there’s sufficient Ski/Board
traffic, mogul formations could quickly evolve proportional to steepness.
Use Slow, Cautious Speed over all Crests to determine Safe Descent Lines.
Coverage should not be an issue at all.
At 11cm’s below 500cm’s, 489cm's TOTAL-Season-to-Date, Tremblant is ahead
of 12 of the past 16 years Seasons TOTALS on February 19th, 2017.
We still have a lot more winter to look forward to. February mild spells are normal,
and this is not an excessive exposure at cooler mountain Elevations.
Weather Notes:
Today could possibly see some rain and or Snow. The Icons below are all for
Sud, South Resort Base, so with lower temps up top, and maybe even
lower temps in the air over the Mountain, the outcome could be snow
on Summit and upper Nord, North sectors?
As Mountain Elevations should be Sub-Zero almost every night, there may be Icy Bits
to variable degrees. Grooming cycles should render most out, but anytime there’s
warm in the sentence, icy can happen. Be ready to tune your edges.
