3/3/17 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Intro. @ 11:25 P.M.

Everything we were hoping for in the Incremental Improvement
from Yesterday was realized with last nights Grooming Shift, so
there was more, and better, universal surface quality.

It was a bit cooler, but less overall wind, so there were sheltered moments when
it actually seemed warmer than yesterday. If you did manage to catch a Gust of
wind frontally, you instantly knew it was cooler.

More Apres Ski as soon as time permits, below, in “reply”.

81(*) Open Trails on the Overnight Refined Slopes of #Tremblant .

What was Open Was Great Yesterday...

There is Exceptional Durability in Base Coverage Over Recent Weather.

Of course some weather related Glitches,
but Generally Very Fine and Some @ Quite Excellent
Open Groomed Terrain. Mountain Crews have done
close to “Miracle Work” here with a surprisingly quick,
and very fine outcome.

And, With Another Overnight Grooming Cycle,
There will be More Quality Over Everything Open Today.

The Principle Attribute Of Tremblant Right Now Is Smooth(**).

(**)“Smooth” could be applicable separately and distinctly from both the
standpoints of Longitudinal or Linear Surface and/or the density
of top strata. The later of those two references is the variable part at
Tremblant right now. There can be either loose fresh snowfall, or machine-ground
granular, or icy substrates(that can naturally occur in any combination of the above),
that Mother Nature decides to cook up, with Temp’s, Wind, And Any or All
Forms Of Precipitation.

“Smooth” Makes Every Other Factor Easier.

Regardless of Skill Level, “Smooth” Equally Benefits Every Tremblant Guest.
As long as Speed Is Under Absolute Control Relative To The Official Mountain
Conduct Code For The Rated Green, Blue, or Black Terrain, and all related Traffic
Rules Aspects , “Smooth” gets you Optimal Control Effectiveness.

From Basic “Pie” Shaped Ski Beginner Movements To Expert Full Tilt Radical Carving,
the Benefits of “Smooth” can not be overstated.

Recent, Well Tuned, Sharp Edges are Essential, if you want safe control.

We Say...

Taking Dull Edges To Any Ski Resort On The Planet
With Normal “Spring” +/-C Temp. Ranges
is like taking a “Pea-shooter” to a Gunfight.

As Far as Un-Groomed, there are two references.

1) Un-Groomed as in Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Never Groomed Glades.

2) Un-Groomed as in not recently Groomed so all recent Snowfall may
be tracked-up, Mogul’d or otherwise Irregular Surfaces With Unpredictable
Naturally and Randomly Occurring Hazards.

Care and Appropriate Caution With Speed At All Times, however...

Like the Samples Below, where there is a Fresh Dusting of Powder Snow
Over a Stable Recently Groomed Trail, the Skiing Can Be Superb.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski, Late Night Edition @ 11:43 P.M.

Another Very Fine, Classic, Cool, High Performance, Technical Skiing Day, at Tremblant.

When we say “Technical” we mean personal Skills demonstrating basic
correctness in Ski-Specific Postures, Balance, and Movements as intrinsic
to one’s actual Rated Skill level, matched appropriately to Terrain of that
same Rated Skill Level, or less, as the User.

Basically, if you’re a Genuine Intermediate, sticking with the “Blues” is
very wise when there has been a Thaw/Re-freeze, at least for a couple
of days, post-weather event.

Another way of expressing this is that conditions may be a lot less “Forgiving”,
so it’s a lot more difficult to make recoveries from errors.

In another way, Conditions are easier than usual in some cases because of the
Smoothness. If you look at this shot below of Le Tunnel, it is a prime example.

www.Tremblant360.com Photo. All rights reserved.
3.3.17.Nord.North.Le.Tunnel.Very.Fine.Groomed.Recently.Example.e.jpg (714.69 KiB) Viewed 2341 times
Le Tunnel is commonly left as an Un-Groomed Mogul Run, and its Black, Experts
Only, Trail Rating is well deserved due to the Knee-Pumping, Thigh-Busting,
deeply ridged, Mogul field of its main descent pitch. Groomed Smooth,
as it is now, we’d take a confident Intermediate on it without hesitation.

One advantage today had was a lower overall wind factor.
There was still a periodically gusty wind, but it was not
yesterday’s “Howler”, so it was fairly easy to deal with.

Tomorrow’s Forecast... -21C overnight, then Sunny with temp’s
up to -15C and a moderate to strong Nor-West wind coming
up the Mountain over Nansen.

The Skiing/Boarding should be another step up with Grooming
tonight, so on one side, a bit of “Cool” challenge to dress
for, but on the other side, Very Cool Ski/Board Performance!
