When it gets down to -27C, all you can do is...
Define The Benefits of “Cryogenic”.(“”)
... and wait for temps to get up to -4C this afternoon.
Here’s The Snow...
Here’s What You Can Do With The Snow...
Very Fine, Very Versatile, Very Cool, Very Fast, and Very Easy Snow!
That Sums Up The Current Tremblant Alpine Snow Sports Network.
It’s No Secret...
We Love Our Snow “Cool”!!!
Anyone who either follows us along, or reviews any records in this Archive
will know or see that we categorically state that “Squeaky” Cold Snow has
Unique and Distinct Performance Properties that make it(arguably), the best
performing, and easy Snow for all Skill Levels.(**)
Low Friction, High Speed!
(“”):
The “Other” Benefits, General and Specific,
of Super Cool “Cryogenic” Weather...
Generally, when the Mountain is exposed to Super Cool temp’s, the result over
time is the overall reduction in the “Core” temperature of the mass of the Mountain.
This phenomenon is commonly referred to as the “Frost Level” into the
ground, which is basically the depth below the surface that is below zero C
or below 32F, and by how much. Obviously, having the mass of the Mountain
chilled to -20C/-4below ZeroF, is going to help retain “Snow” on its surface
longer than if it was only chilled to say -5C/23F, for at least two reasons.
First, the colder it is at the surface, the deeper that cold extends below the
surface, so there’s a larger overall amount of Mass at a cooler temp.
Secondly, the cooler the mass of the Mountain is, the longer it takes to
warm it up with any “+” Value, ambient Outside Air Temp’s. This is a
HUGELY Critical Factor in “Spring”, so the stored refrigerant characteristic
of the Mountains Mass plays one of the single most important roles in
the Durable Quality of the Seasons Length, as it stores “Cold” as a foundation
below the Surface Snow Level that takes weeks and weeks to be offset by “Warm”.
Specifically, in the case of “Today”, the Mountain needs this cold spell to
counteract/offset the recent warm spell.
If you are a guest from far away who may only be here for a week
anywhere in the Season, that may not be as important as if you are a
Regional/Local person who Skis/Boards from November to April and
counts every moment of every day on the Mountain as a precious resource,
but...the weather is what it is, and we can’t change that, so it is fair to point
out that it does count equally for all Tremblant Guests in-so-far-as the performance
benefits enjoyed on a Here-and-Now, Day-by-Day basis.
If you’re reading this in August of some future year as part of an Archival Timeframe
Conditions Research effort, this is a reason you choose to book Tremblant in September...
Reliable Winter, Every Winter.
If You’re at Tremblant Now...
This is why you’re having so much Fun!!!
Repeat from above:Low Friction, High Speed!
Please Note: “Low Friction, High Speed” is a relative thing.
“Low Friction" is just as beneficial for Beginners as it is for Experts,
and as far as “High Speed”, that’s relative as well. For Beginners
we might even reconfigure this to say “Low Friction, Easy Control”
because Speed is not always something Beginners are comfortable
with. In the case of Beginners, being able to execute any learning Skiing
movement with “Low Friction” means BOTH easier execution and learning
of Control movements at any stage, and therefore facilitates rapid advancement.
Easy Snow For All Skill Levels.
Weather Notes:
Please Note: One Of Our Most Favourite Things... Low Wind Speed!
This will be a HUGE “User Friendly” attribute today if it stays as forecast.
There will be Quiet, Totally Wind Sheltered Trail-Side Spots Where It Will Feel WARM!
Page Under Progressive Assembly...
All the rest is about choosing the Terrain
for your Realistic and Actual Skill Level.
Bundle up And Go!
((**)Please Note: Below -30 C, the Friction Properties can dramatically change to
higher resistance, so “Cool” and “Fast” have a relationship that can change
in extreme low temp ranges. This is NOT today, but info. included for “Cool”
reference completeness.)
