However...

At -27 C, it’s, not just “Cool”, It's KKKkkold out there!

And... At the Projected Wind Speed Peak Gusts,
it could generate Wind Chill Equivalents
at -45 C. NOTWITHSTANDING Descent Speed.

You Need to be careful.
You Need to be Very Careful
with your young Kids.

------------- Conditions Caveat -----------------

Sorry to have to report it, but this is one of a
handful of Seasonal “Danger Zone” Cold days
that can happen at any Ski area.
-Do Not Use “Hoods” on Little Johnny or Little Jill.(**)

-Toque’s Are Not Safe Today.
Helmets and Helmet Covers... Essential.
Balaclava and Triple Layer Neck Protection... Fine.
Full Facial Mask Coverage Essential.
Mittens, even double layered Mittens... Fine.
ZERO EXPOSED SKIN ALERT.
(**)Even a hood that is drawn tightly around the face
has minute gaps that will allow facing cold air to
enter, and the Hood will force that cold air down the
inside back of a Kids jacket into the body area because
forward wind pressure has nowhere else to escape.
After 10 minutes of flexing and twisting, the Hood
Drawstring will loosen, gaps will become larger and
at descent speeds, you risk your kid going hypothermic.
“Hoods” may be fine for “Urbanland”, standing around waiting
for a School Bus where you can be in a Shelter or turn your
back to it, but continuously moving while Skiing downhill and
facing into such a strong wind source, they can literally do more harm
than good.

In terms of historical review perspectives, both current and
future readers of these archived reports should note that these
very cold temp’s at this time of year are statistical anomaly, i.e.,
very rare/unusual. If you look at 10 season averages, if and when
they occur, they are typically very brief, and for the most part,
they tend to occur at night, when they’re not really an issue.

The 30 year average daily high temp for this date is actually +3C.

Additionally, the brief encounters with temperature extremes
either warm or cool at this time period are well recognized in
folklore as March “In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb” or visa/versa
“In Like A Lamb, Out Like A Lion.” Anecdotally, we think(?) there
are similar same dates in this record of close to +20C/72F way
back somewhere...

The historical bottom-line(s) on this point is that almost any date
in March can be subjected to either a “Cold Snap” or a “Heat-Wave”
and furthermore, we need to be ready for both, hence our slang expression...
“Them Who Adapts The Quickest, Has The Most Fun!"

Technically, the Open Groomed Terrain should be Excellent... however...

Being “Brave” and being irresponsible are different
matters in these Weather circumstances,
especially where Children are involved.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
