4/7/17 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Intro. @ 6:30 P.M.

If We Only Put One Pic. In For Apres Ski Today...

Any whining you heard about rainy weather
would have to be put into serious question
when this was available practically all day
on the Nord, North Side, at Tremblant....

It Snowed Fairly Heavily All Day Across The Summit
Ridge, And On Versant Nord, The North Side.

If it had rained over the entire Mountain all day,
we could understand some of the pessimistic
weather feedback we heard regarding the Sud,
South side, but when it’s April 7th, and it’s
snowing vigorously over the Nord, North Side,
we consider ourselves unbelievably lucky and we
simply stay where the snow is... all day.

There could almost be no finer example of how
“Tipping Points” of a handful of degrees C can
produce dramatically different outcomes, i.e.,
Nord, North @ “Winter” and... Sud, South
@ “Spring”.

Basically, and it’s not a criticism, just an observation,
the Sud, South side was noticeably Softer and Slower
than the Nord, North. In the Pic. above, the softness
started just about the half-way mark of Upper Alpine
and Beauvallon.

There is nothing within Human Efforts that could have
overcome the South Side combination of Weather Warm,
On the other hand, Only Mother Nature could simultaneously
serve up all the bare minimum, required elements necessary
to produce Snowfall that starts only a few metres away, and
can cover an entire Mountain-side.

We think it’s a great example of Tremblant’s natural advantages
of Geo-Compass-Point, Multi-Sided Terrain that can frequently
create a “Cool" Offset to any Regional tendency to either “Warm”
or “Thaw” when temps are at or close to Zero C.

A great day today, even if limited Open Terrain availability.
What’s Open is Quite Fine for April 7th. More later if possible...

April 5Th, 2017 Expo Pitch.

It’s not Sunny Today, however the Surfaces are probably going to be similar
and this shows the kind of “Shred” Performance your Skis should be capable of:

Generally:

If you’d like to know how the conditions at Tremblant are today,
read any of the last week or so posts where the daily temps
span from below zero C to above zero C, pick one, and you
have a good chance of today being similar. They’re all different,
but they all have excellence within them, weather notwithstanding.

In other words, Wild Card Combination Factors could produce
any number of mixed outcomes on individual trails or sectors.

What We know for sure is that there will be Great Skiing today at Tremblant.

What we don't know for sure, is where that great skiing is going to be
within the Open Terrain.

One helpful factor is that it is currently Snowing.

From the last day we had good Photo Light, the day before yesterday...

Here is a 3 shot sequence from P’tit Bonheur for the sake of all the Green

they may encounter.

These above will have the additional benefit of a couple more
nights of Grooming, but...

If you consider that most of the Mountain was Sub-Zero overnight,
yesterday’s Super Soft Spring Snow probably got re-solidified, so
Snowfall, even in small amounts could be a big help.

However... in another Wild Card moment, it’s not supposed to be
snowing now, it’s supposed to be raining until later on this afternoon
when the forecast calls for a change to snow. So, more unpredictable
elements in the days potential.

A Major Point Is... You need to have faith that you’re going to find
the Great Skiing that will be there, and we can tell you for a fact that
in decades of Springs at Tremblant, we’ve never been disappointed.

What you have to accept is that the best surfaces will be revealed with
exploration and are most likely to evolve during the day, so chances are
the sweetest trails at First Tracks are probably going to be different at
Last Run.

Weather Notes:

At Least... the rain Icons are small, so that usually(**) means the active
precipitation traverses the area in bands. That also usually means there
are portions of the Mountain that are dry for extended periods, depending
on winds, those dry areas can be most of, or all day.

((**)say 8 of 10 times, in the other 2 days, it just means a steady drizzle
instead of full-on rain)

Repeat From Yesterday Because It Still Applies:

The Frost Below All The Seasons Groomed Trail
Network is a Very Effective Cold Reserve that
we think is a principle factor in the exceptional
durability of High Quality Skiing today at Tremblant.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
