Hart Skis... Choice of Mogul/Bump Skiers for over 3 Decades!

You don’t see many pairs of Hart Skis on Public Slopes anymore,
but World Cup Mogul Skiers Love Hart Skis(##) The World Over, where
they are still very popular. So, you know there are serious Spring Mogul
Fans here when you see Hart Skis hanging around on the Mountain!

Primo Soft Spring Skiing!!! Go For Gravity!!!

Today is the kind of day where you can take the plunge off the Steep
Runs because Soft Spring Snow Friction can almost completely offset Gravity,
so control is way easy if you really know what you’re doing.

For Experts: You need to be able to think like a Cat, because...

There are almost limitless variations in friction, from super-fast slick,
to super-slow, "Who Threw Out The Anchor???” drag, so very quick
reactions are what you need to Be Safe and Look Good!

Snow Surface Speed is predominantly “Fast”, but where “Slow” occurs, it wants to
happen right this second, instantly. Except... your upper body momentum wants to
keep on moving, in which case you cartwheel head-over-heels down the Mountain,
unless you can compensate to give yourself a wee bit of advantage, by slightly
sitting back over the Tails of your Skis. That’s why we say “Think Like A Cat”,
because you need to move as fast as a cat does to recover balance or focus
turning energy.

Everything is Soft...

The Best Choice may be to "Go For Gravity” because the Soft Snow
Resistance is actually useful to offset Steepness, yet simultaneously
retain some speed.

Here’s an example of “Going For Gravity”...

The Skiing continues to be “Technical” in the sense that
the Super Soft Spring Snow is not the most forgiving on
some levels. For Example... Edge engagement... Soft Snow
can hook an edge quicker than the blink of an eye, so correct
balance positioning over the length of the ski needs to be met
with equal balance positioning from side to side. The challenge
with Soft Snow is to maintain that small, but ideal balance centre
in a dynamic environment that has some potentially powerful forces
generated by thicker, heavier Snow.

On The Other Hand... For those with “Experience” and “Muscle”,
Soft, Spring Snow can be more forgiving in the sense that Experience
teaches you how to apply Muscle to dominate the Soft Snow with
assertive control movements. Experienced Experts use the softness
to absorb impacts associated with alternating left and right turns into
Mogul sides, and those impacts help keep Speed under control. For
Those With Those Specific Technical Skills... That was easy today!

Believe It Or Not ...

There was Expert Terrain of Immaculate Smoothness...

Something for everyone !!!

Just remember...

one week from tonight “Apres Ski” will have a different meaning.

Go Skiing While You Can!

-------------------- 8:27 A.M. Orig. Post ------------------

73(*) Open Trails on Nord, North, Sud, South and Soleil Sectors at #Tremblant .

An exceptional Closing Sequence of days for Tremblant’s Winter Season with
a tremendous residual amount of snow on both Trails and in the Bush that has
resulted in far above average durability in BOTH Coverage and Surface Quality.

We are pleased to report that yesterday turned out to be another
very fine Spring Skiing day at Tremblant with the main attribute
of “Gravity Offset By Soft Surfaces”, meaning that due to the extra
resistance of Super-Soft Spring Snow, you could face the Fall-line
directly on steeper pitches and that made them quite easy to navigate.

We expect today to be similar, at least to begin with(**).
We think the Frost in the Substrates of the Trail Network Base
are going to be capable of sustaining quality and quantity
in the coverages for many days, especially considering the
light traffic of a mid-April work-week. Will we be right?
Only experience is going to reveal that answer...
We’ll let you know for sure!

Above: The important thing to note in this one is
the “White” that is visible on all the Trails and more
importantly, the white that is evident in the Bush.
If you looked at all the Mountain Panoramic’s from
this date in all the previous seasons in this record,
there are not many with this amount of overall retained
Snow. By now, most normal years are still showing “White”
Trail surfaces, but a lot of “Brown” in the Bush.

Below: The Second important thing to note is the depth
of the Trail-Side Snow-pack, i.e., how deep is that Snow
in the Bush. This is an excellent indicator of the overall
status of what’s left of “Winter”, in-so-far-as the melted
loss of coverage both on and off Trails.

Please Note the Ski Pole on the Left Screen-side. All you can see is the hand-grip.
The rest of the 120cm’s/48 inch pole, is buried straight into the Trail-Side Bush
Snow-Pack, meaning that in this Versant Nord, North Side, mid-Lowell Thomas
area, the ambient depth of snow in the Bush is still close to 4 feet.

For April 9th, that’s amazing! There are some seasons where this is
bare ground by this date, or if there is still snow, it may only be a few
inches or Cm’s, a fraction of what we see here now.

This Nord, North Summit Sector Snow-pack is NOT like this everywhere, but...
the fact that it exists at all... ANYWHERE on the Mountain, is a great sign of
a very generous and durable Winter Season.

(**) Conditions Note: Today is going to see some real heat. Additionally,
it is the first day of sustained above zero C overnight temp’s, so there
are going to be some differences in characteristics because there was
no overnight re-freeze. A Bonus for First Tracks, but as yet, unknown
effects for Last Run.

Every Spring day with these coverages is a privilege.
Smooth Wide Expanses and considering the date...
very, very few glitches.
If you can make it out, don’t let the opportunity pass by.
It’s a long time ’til the end of next November...

page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
