Too Much Snow????

However, there certainly is a TON of snow to process
and it will definitely add more time to the overall
grooming effort simply because of the massive amounts
that will most likely need multiple Night-Shift grooming
in order to get close to optimized trail surfaces. We think
what actually fell may well have been quite a bit more
than forecast.
We think this shot below will go a long way to showing why
we will all need to be a bit patient to allow Mountain Crews
time to get a very huge job done. What it shows is that after
yesterdays grooming that brought P’tit Bonheur almost right
up to its usual flawless self, today we have another 15 to 20cm’s
added to the trail surface, on top of the 48cm’s of 3 days ago!!!

The total amount of “Official” snowfall is unknown to us
but when you look at how far the Ski in the pic. above will
lay into the snow just by tipping it sideways, you can clearly
see almost 15cm’s/6 inches over top of what was a groomed
flat surface yesterday.
What you see above allowed P’tit Bonheur to develop moguls
again for the second time this week. That’s about as many times
as P’tit Bonheur has had moguls in the last two years.
When all this snow does get groomed to a mogul-resistant density,
the conditions at Tremblant should be stratospherically excellent,
until “Who Knows When”, months down the road!
The amazing part is that we’re only at Mid-February!
How much more snow can this season bring?

Above:
Nansen Bas, Lower had perhaps, the most “Normal” trail surfaces,
but even then, you could clearly see and feel zones of wind-drifted
thickness and the last pitch adjacent to Trail # 96, Tam-Tam,
had soft moguls on it by early afternoon.
From a practical point, it was “warm” out with temps
that got up to just touching Zero C at Mountain elevations,
so it was very easy to be comfortable. The worst of it was
you got a wet butt on the chairlifts from all the snow that
was there when you sat on them to go up.
We sincerely wish Mountain Op’s all the very best wishes
for as much square area getting groomed as the machines
can cover. Putting a smooth surface down as temps drop
again tonight, should be all Ski/Board guests best hope
of making the most out of tomorrow.
By the way... Our local Edge Sector Sous Bois Fans tell
us that they were routinely getting powder “Face Shots”
and furthermore, it is... "The Most Snow We’ve Seen There
At Once, In Years”.

Good thing it’s a Ski Resort!
((**) The official seasons accumulation total, now stands at 436cm’s.
For our American cousins, that’s over 14 feet of natural snow... so-far.
Considering that the 21 year seasonal Average TOTAL is 418cm’s,
compared to any February 15th in the past, that is an unusually large
amount. All the evidence you need of that fact sits before you on the
beautiful slopes here, just waiting for your arrival.)

If you look closely at the central Summit Peak visible above
with a “Y” shaped trail configuration, the trail on the left side
at the top is Zig-Zag, Tremblant Versant Sud, South Side Trail
# 14, that is paired in the “Y” shape with it’s immediately adjacent
and somewhat parallel Summit accessed mate, Trail # 13, Vertige.
Together, these trails are 2 of the 3 steepest declines at Tremblant.
Consequently, they are very sensitive to snow coverage, and especially
Sou-Westerly, Westerly and Nor-Westerly winds. Having both these trails
Open is one significant sign of the current health of everything else on
the Mountain.

Weather Notes:
Firstly, we do not have concern for the Resort Base
Level indicated daytime high at a degree or two over
Zero C, due to the typical -4 C cooler Mountain Elevation
Differential. If anything, we think a little warm burp may
help induce some humidity into the new snow pack
that could actually accelerate the efficiency of tonights
grooming cycle. “Snowball Snow” packs tighter and quicker
than dusty dry snow, so there may be a functional utility in
this temp swing cycle.(?)

Sorry for the very late range of the 24 hour display.
We’ve had error code technical issues, so that’s the
way it goes some days... Anyway, the delay does
provide an extended outlook into tomorrow morning
showing a sunny day. So, with all the crazy amounts
of new snow, plus the excellence of the grooming
with immense amounts of raw material to work with,
it should all add up to some serious motivation to get
you out the door and on the way to Tremblant for the weekend!

Conditions Notes:
Near-Future Tremblant Trip/Visit Planners:
The words and phrases used by language to try to convey
significance are typically all over-used and diluted in a world
that seems to be driven by by exaggerated claims, so we want
to re-emphasize the current Tremblant statistics to make the point.
As of this morning, the Official recorded Season-to-date, natural
snowfall accumulation is 436cm’s. The 21 year TOTAL Seasonal
Accumulation Average is 418cm’s, so we are already well over
what the average year gets, and we still have many, many weeks
to go until Seasons end, scheduled for April 22, 2019.
After you digest those numbers for a moment...
We hope you’ve been able to get to the Gym, or otherwise prepare
with any form of aerobic and strength conditioning, because... when
you do arrive, you are not going to want to miss a single moment
or descent and you’re going to want some stamina as well as a bit
of muscle to take advantage of it all.
