Good Morning Tremblant!

Open trail count this morning jumps to 15 as terrain for the
24 Hours @ Tremblant Children's Charity Fundraiser comes
on-line. As noted in the http://www.tremblant.ca Official
snow report, the additional South Side terrain is for the
exclusive use of the 2 classes (basically, competition and
recreational levels) of participants in this unique Alpine
Marathon Fundraising event.

NEWS FLASH---> OVER $ 1,000,000.00 RAISED!
A NEW PRE-EVENT RECORD!

Today is the day to make your pledge to this Worthy cause!

The weather this morning includes Sunny Skies, Summit temps
around -15C with a South Side base temp reaching up to -9C or so.
With the sun out, there will be quite a bit of thermal energy in its rays,
so it should feel warmer where you can find a spot to enjoy. The wind
remains from the west as it was yesterday, but the velocity is forecasted
to be reduced down to aprox. 10 Km/ph, down about 2/3rd's of where
it was, making things much more pleasant and easier to handle.

Tremblant Mountain Crews have worked around the clock for several
days in order to produce beautiful surfaces for the 24 Hour participants
to use and today is the day that it all comes together.

Anyone who was out yesterday saw evidence of the high quality of
participants, as there were teams spread out all over our open runs
working on their form and getting those muscles warmed up and
ready for the marathon.

For us regular people, ie; those not participants in the 24 Hours,
the really big news is todays opening from top to bottom of the
North Side via Beauchemin and the Duncan Detachable Quad Chair Lift.

This is fantastic news for the public because it means over double
the North side terrain as well as quadruple or more uphill capacity
to get skiers and boarders to the top of the Mountain, which will
really help with todays expected attendance.

All things considered, it was a pretty good day.

P'tit Bonhuer to Beauchemin was quite skiable all the way to the Duncan Chair. The pitch just below the entrance to the Edge even had some gentle moguls on it by the end of the day which added a little drama to the run. Of course, more natural snow will be helpful, but we certainly must give the Tremblant Mountain Crews full credit for creating a wonderful Alpine Ski/Board surface in just a few days. The cooler temps have obviously helped in the snow making department along with the snow storm back on Wed. would have to say that the bottom of Beauchemin held more natural snow than the upper portion, so it was a bit of a treat to find it in such good shape.

The 24 Hour Children's Charity Fundraiser goes on all night long and the way things looked at 6:00 pm, conditions on the South Side runs off the Flying Mile Chair being used are in fine shape with plenty of bright lights. Looking at these great runs under the bright lights makes one wonder how nice night skiing might be...

Anyway, we'll try to bring you some more news before the night is over, but in the mean-time, here's a little look at the South Side Base where all the action is.
