More Opening Terrain On The Way!
There are going to be a lot of Local/Regional Tremblant Fans
who’ll be excited to see this! It’s a Favourite!

A Nice Day In The Park, Tremblant Style!

More in the morning, but the forecast is “Dynamic”.
What that really means is it’s not the same as it was
this morning, so we might not get all the snow they
thought was coming. Skiing will be great anyway
with another overnight grooming cycle and the
light traffic of a weekday.

16(*) Open Trails With Ski-Out Total Mountain Vertical, Sud/South and Nord/North.
There Are High Performance Qualities Across
All Skill Level Open Terrain That Make YOU Look Good!
In this example below, it’s easy to see the lateral grip this
good skier can apply on Versant Nord/ North Side Beauchemin Bas,
Lower. We actually thought Beauchemin Bas had the best technical
carving on the Mountain yesterday. It is at full width, which is great,
and there was very little in the way of icy under it, making it loads
of fun to rip of some big-angled carving turns when there were safe
margins of space to work with.

Here is another “Makes You Look Good” Opening Weekend example,
Versant Nord, North Side P’tit Bonheur. For 20 or more years, this
trail has delivered the very highest level of quality from the minute
it opens. It is a Tremblant Opening Super-Star and we love it, and
recommend it to all as just about the finest place on Earth to get
your summer-dormant Ski-Skills dusted off, and back to active status.

We got our first taste of “Sunny” yesterday afternoon and the
World Famous Tremblant panorama’s did not disappoint. No matter
how many days or seasons you get to start with this view, it always
inspires tremendous appreciation for the gifts of Mother Nature.

More Runs Opening Soon!
Be sure to check out the “Snowmaking” icons on the Official Trail List Data
sheet below for insight into the terrain that is under construction for near-term
opening.
Following below is a great example of snowmaking over an excellent early
season natural base on Versant Sud/South Side upper trail #18, McCulloch.
This snowmaking is viable due to the early abundance of natural snow
which we might not normally see to this degree until almost the first or
second week of December or so.
11.23.19.TGV.Quad.Views.McCulloch.Snowmaking.b.jpg
There’s a TON of snowmaking going on on the Nord/North too. The
entire Lowell Thomas Sector has extensive snowmaking deployment.
This north side commitment to opening terrain early has been
going on for many years prior to the running of the 24Hr. Children’s
Charity Marathon Fundraiser, so that folks just out for days on the
slopes during the event, have loads of trail selection to compensate
for the terrain dedicated to the event running on Versant Sud/South.
Weather Notes:
The forecast for today has changed twice in the last 24hrs.
and in last night’s Apres Ski, we reported the then current
Overcast. It’s switched back to Sunny this morning, and as the
first rays of light are peeking out, it actually does look clear
out there!
What we really like about today’s forecast is very, very low wind speed.
This will unquestionably be the easiest feeling day in the Opening
sequence, low winds are always our most welcome element of
any Winter forecast. It is also fair to point out that at these temp’s,
and this low wind speed, there may be some Solar Softening on trails
such as Beauvallon that get the direct intensity of the afternoon sun.
This could generate some “Best Of” surfaces by just after lunch.
The other thing we like in this forecast is the prospect of almost 12 hours
of snowfall tonight. If the wind stays low while the snow falls, there could
be a significant enhancement to the existing base that will come across
as the potential elimination of the icy bits, not to mention, the contribution
to increasing coverage for more new terrain to be opened.
Conditions Notes:
Early morning freshly groomed is Super-Smooth with good, loose
top layers, however, due to the temp swings across Zero C 48 hours
ago, there are still some icy substrates that show up with increasing
frequency during the day as traffic skids those top layers off in places.
Tuned edges are your best friends for optimized safety, control and fun.
Without them, you will perceive much higher degrees of icy, with them,
you can carve up huge vertical all day and maximize your own fitness
with confidently applied technique.
Due to early season limits on open terrain, there are multiple
skill levels sharing the same real estate, so it’s essential for
Experts and Intermediates to give wide margins for Beginners
that can make unpredictable changes in speed or direction with
zero notice.
What we’re seeing is that with some of the steeper terrain exhibiting
icy bits, Experts and Race Coaches/Ski Teams, are moving to some
of the Blue and Green terrain so they can focus on technique, and
that is creating challenge within the shared space. For example,
P’tit Bonheur is not a race track, so please treat Rated Skill Level
terrain with respect for the intended “Green” User/Skill levels
who can not go anywhere else.
Otherwise, for Experts who have well grounded Short-Radius,
Parallel Turning Technique, the trail edges frequently have the
most reliable soft, loose, high traction snow. So, if you can crank
off a lot of little turns along the trail edges, its easy to get down
sectors that may develop traversed traffic exposed slick centres.
"Pace Yourself”
After a whole summer off, all those dormant ski muscles are being
suddenly kicked into high gear. No matter what kind of “Power Squats”
you can do at the gym all summer, nothing can effectively replicate
the demands of performing the actual sport. Work into it. Enthusiasm
on Opening Days, tends to drive us all to make extraordinary physical
output to the point that we can tap out reserves very quickly. We just
don’t yet have the endurance built up, so it’s vitally important to moderate
your effort in the way that will allow your energy to span these first days
on the slopes. Secondarily, it’s just as important to replenish your energy
use with appropriate nutritional support including quality proteins, high
fibre complex carb’s and corresponding usable fats. Your overnight recovery
for tomorrows ongoing training is directly linked to the quality of the
metabolic fuel, i.e., “Food” you eat. Train hard, eat smart.

Tremblant is about 2 to 3 weeks ahead of 20 year averages
with Summit-To-Base Ski-out on both Sud/South and Nord/North
Sectors. As a result, this upcoming time period is an excellent
opportunity to establish your early season conditioning. Do your
best to wrangle a few days off and leave the crazy world behind
to Ski Tremblant! Better than any Gym on the Planet!
