There are 2 main stories from Thursday.

1) - The 17 cm’s of fresh new snowfall was a very positive game changer.
The Skiing went from good to excellent. There are places on Versant
Nord, North Side that had Drift-in in excess of 25cm’s. Superb silky
smoothness with high performance traction and near complete elimination
of Icy.

Below is a sample of the surface quality representing a very dry crystalline
structure that has been groomed smooth and still has a wee bit of thickness
and friction until it has additional grooming cycles to optimize compaction.
That’s tomorrow morning. The excellent performance characteristics that
were all-day durable should be repeated for tomorrow, but with additional
smoothness and increased glide as surface density increases. Another very
favourable quality was the largely mogul-resistant running smoothness
that was apparent right up to Last Run.

Another Grooming Cycle overnight for Friday morning should
generate even more refined quality. You should be planning to go on
this basis alone. Additionally, Tremblant Is Beautiful. This is not a fancy
action shot, but it is a great sample of the remarkable natural beauty
around every corner.

2) - We think there is the possibility of significant New Opening Terrain
as soon as Friday/Saturday(?) Morning. We do not have Official confirmations,
however, there is soooo much snowmaking going on, in combination
with all the new snow, that it seems very likely to us that “Open”
is just around the corner in the Lowell T. and/or the McCUlloch Sectors
for 2 current sample potentials.

Of course, we could be completely wrong, however the amount of
such obvious effort indicates “Soon” at the least.

Here is a sample series of 3 pic’s from the Lowell T. Sector.

We did hear what we would consider a well informed rumour
that Friday Morning could maybe have a “Surprise” terrain opening
announcement???

There is no Official Confirmation yet, but if it’s true,
you can say you heard it here, from T360 first!

Otherwise...
The weather tomorrow... Sunny, with temp’s up to -4 C,
super-east early winter!

Despite the overcast at sunrise, the forecast still says “Sunny”,
so with any luck...

This Could Be The Way Your Day At Tremblant Is Going To Look!

All the good local Skiers tend to know one-another
and hang out together, so it’s been our privilege to
have volunteer’s who don’t mind being in pictures
for conditions and performance sampling. Our friend
above(Merci L.B.!) certainly illustrates the performance
capabilities of the recent surfaces very well and we chose
this pic. for the lead today because we think it’s going to
be typical of what you’ll be able to find all day.

Weather Notes:

The temp’s and atmospheric’s are easy, but the wind is
going to still make it seem cool as starts out as a “Howler”
coming straight at you on the way down La Crete to
Beauvallon/Nansen/P’tit Bonheur.

Fortunately, it’s supposed to diminish towards noon, but
the change may be perceived as becoming a "Little Howler",
instead of a "Big Howler", in other words, it’s still going to
seem windy, just not quite so aggressive.

Conditions Notes:

The new snowfall is a most welcome addition that in combination
with the overnight grooming cycle, should produce very good early
season conditions across all skill level open terrain.

For our American Cousins, up for their Thanksgiving Holiday,
the most noticeable feature is going to be the Summit-To-Base
on both Sud/South and Nord/North sides. Total Mountain vertical
access is not the usual, at least in a historic statistical perspective,
but it is the second year in a row, so we owe a great deal of thanks
to Mother Nature for this repeat of really excellent Opening Week conditions.

Depending on the size of todays attendance, the durability of
the initial mornings groomed trail surfaces should go for the
better part of the whole day, however, given all the recent
warmer and somewhat wet weather, there could be traffic
exposed icy bits develop during the course of the day now
that the temps have dropped back into Sub-Zero C’s.

It’s still only Thursday, so without the local weekenders, guests
from afar may have a couple of days of relatively light traffic to
enjoy the seasons first turns.

To put things into objective perspective though, we need
to acknowledge that this is not the middle of February, so
natural hazards may exist, or evolve with daily traffic, simply
because we do not have many weeks or months of accumulated
base depth yet. For that reason we say that all explorations
should be at reduced speed until you can confirm safe passage.

A Nice Day In The Park, Tremblant Style!
(Continued...)

We hung out in the Versant Sud, South Side Alpine Park
a few days ago and we’ve been gradually processing the
pic’s, so here are a couple more from that series.

We think this one below should really be titled:
“Heads Over Heels” in the Park!
It was the best summersault we saw
in the 20 some-odd minutes we were there
and they are “Head” brand Skis.

Excellent to see McCulloch under construction!

The skiing is described as "Good snow with a few icy bits.”.

Welcome To Tremblant To All Our American Cousins!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Summary is that Official Stat’s are 17cm's fresh Mountain
snow overnight. The wind is a bit of a howler, but the steady
-2C temps still easy. Total package including grooming
should render a good refresh, and reliable all-day performance.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
