11/30/19 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 10:45 P.M.

This Apres Ski is completely dedicated to the potential, possibility,
maybe, chances of, speculative, could be... Opening of New Terrain
at Tremblant. There are 2 primary clues.

Firstly, Tremblant.ca produced a video that said there would be up
to 20 some-odd trails for the weekend.

Secondly, and following here below in a 5 Webcam Snap Shot series,
there is a HUGE amount of observable New, Raw, Terrain Processing
Grooming going on right this second, tonight, Saturday November 30, 2019.
This physical processing by grooming New Terrain is one of the very
best indicators of imminent Opening potential(Tomorrow???)

Please Note: Pic.Files below are annotated with Time stamps by Date/Hour/Minute

1) Snowmaking and Grooming to Beauchemin Haut, Upper.

2) The Ropes are down over the Summit entrance to Trail #68, Rope Tow,
and the consequent Lowell Thomas Sector trails below, indicating access
for work/processing.

3) The Big Guns Are Out And Ready At The Summit. We’ve been scanning
the Summit webcams just in case we could see Mountain Crews working
and this certainly shows there’s a big effort ready to launch.

4) BINGO... Groomers working on Rope Tow/Lowell Thomas Sector.
We believe this is the very best sign of “ASAP” opening potential.

5) More Groomer Work Ongoing In Lowell Thomas Sector.
- REPEAT - We believe this is the very best sign of “ASAP” opening potential.

IF, IF, IF... ???.... There are possible new open trails, the total potential
could be in the range of of between 4 and 7 new open trails
by our account. IF, IF, IF... ???...

We could still be wrong, we hope not,
but there are no guarantee’s???

Otherwise...

It’s gunna be KKkkool tomorrow A.M., it could be even cooler
than forecast, it just feels like the temps could take a real
little downward pop tonight... the forecast for sunrise is -16C,
so it’s a legit “Bundle Up” Notice.

The Skiing is great to begin with, so even if additional open
terrain is delayed for some reason, it’s going to be a great Ski
day on Sunday anyway. New Terrain will be a Bonus, if it happens.

Fall Into Winter At Tremblant!

The Big Stories...

Exceptional Winter Performance And Expanding Open Terrain.

In an Official Social Media published video, Tremblant.ca
announced last night that there would be 20 trails open
for the weekend. The video included references to the
Versant Nord, North Side Lowell Thomas Sector that has
had so much visible snowmaking. That’s exciting news for
guests who have been riding up the Lowell T. Quad and other
lifts going through huge zones of snowmaking for the last several
days, wondering when they would be able to get onto it all.

Part of the excitement has been added by the big natural snowfall
of a couple of days ago. The overall impression of “Winter” has
been the very visible ambient snow coverage over the entire
Mountain, much earlier than historically usual, so everyone
here is very eager to begin exploring new terrain.

Race teams from all over the region are flocking to Tremblant
for annual pre-season training and we find them inspirational
because of the pure mechanical efficiency of race technique
that can be directly applied to all Skill Levels of Skiing ability.

What you see above is a Racer descending on Taschereau using
commonly employed training modes designed to improve natural
stance and balance by removing support mechanisms normally
relied on, and in some cases leveraged against, in order to compensate
for flaws. In this case those two support items are “Ski Poles” and
"Boot Buckles". The lack of Ski poles is certainly the most obvious.
Skiing without poles forces the skier to lean forward into the turns
to compensate for the loss of the mechanical action of the pole plant.
Secondly, and less obvious until it’s pointed out, the boot buckles are
undone. Without the full support of the rigid boot structure, the skier
is forced to concentrate on a very small balance point under the foot
by maintaining a body position in a very narrow range of motion.
If you remove all these supports what you end up with is a very highly
developed sense of balance over the centre of the skis. This is especially
critical when you’re descending on Taschereau at the apparent speed
captured in this pic. Racers benefit by having such a refined balance as
a basis for the actual race environment where all the normal support can
be used to navigate the extreme forces found in a high speed race course.
Recreational Skiers can also use either or both of these modes as drills or
exercises to refine their own balance sensitivity. We might suggest less
aggressive terrain though!

The value of early season training for those who can have a full season
can not be overstated. You need to get out now to put the foundation
in for your optimized performance.

After a full day on the slopes...

Relax, You’re at Tremblant!

Weather Notes:

It’s a cool one for sure, the coolest of the new season so far,
but with Sun and temps rising to -7C, it’s really just sort-of an
average Winter day, in November. We still have 3 weeks of “Fall”,
but no one can deny we have an excellent head start on establishing
frost into the Mountain. We consider this a very positive factor for
seasonal conditions because ultimately, very additional centimetre
the frost gets driven into the Mountain renders the surfaces more
stable and resilient to any future forms of either episodic thaw/weather
or spring seasonal heat.

Conditions Notes:

Real, genuine, winter high performance snow surfaces.

What makes it fast also makes it easy on the “Greens”,
low friction, high traction, so it’s great snow to have your first
ski Beginners experience.

We have been wrong on the new open terrain we thought
would be opening on the Nord/North, and the 2 trails added
so-far today are # 31, Biere-en-Bas, on Versant Sud, South,
running from the TGV Quad base to the top of Johannsen,
and trail # 92, Le Tendre, the utility connector trail on
Versant Nord, North, from the Beauchemin entrance to the
Edge Sector, back to lower Beauchemin. What we thought
might be opening were trails in the Lowell Thomas sector,
and we still think those are not too far off in the future.
It is possible that there could be mid-day opening additions,
so for sure we will be very keenly watching the mornings
open trails list for updates.

Conditions are worthy of every effort you can make to
get out. All the benefit of vigorous, healthy activity
in the cool, crisp, fresh air while being surrounded
by the spectacular Laurentian scenery are unmatched
by any Gym on the Planet.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
