Otherwise, and generally for any Dec.3 in History...

Tremblant Is Very, Very Fine!!!

Expansive Views, Expanding Terrain!

A Great Early Season Combination!

Part of the reason the Terrain is under such huge expansion
is the infrastructure requirements for the running of the
24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser. This includes the
addition of several peripheral terrain zones to allow the
general public, who are not involved directly with the event,
to have not only access to Mountain and Resort facilities,
but also to provide extra open terrain to compensate for
the trails dedicated to the restricted Event Course.

Below is the scene from yesterday and as well as the obvious
event construction, a very significant element visible in this pic.
is the Snowmaking you can see running parallel to the right
side of the Hilton, which is the runout from Trail # 6, Nansen Bas,
Lower. More on that follows below.

Nansen Bas, Lower is one of the most important annual
trail development events because it not only provides
Public access to the Resort Base during the event, but
because during the event and for the rest of the season
that follows, it is the very best “Green”, Beginner descent
path for Versant Sud, the South Side. This single trail
addition alleviates one of the biggest seasons startup issues
which is how to get Beginners down to the Resort base without
forcing them onto the complex intersections of Blue terrain at
the TGV Quad Base and below on Beauvallon/Biere-en-Bas,
to Johannsen.

Having Nansen Bas, Lower, in place not only solves the
Beginner issues, but the resulting additional capacity
for total traffic flow to the Resort Base helps to stabilize
both wear and safety factors all over the Mid Versant Sud,
South Side terrain that naturally concentrates into the TGV
Quad Base zone for all other Skill Levels. Basically, by diverting
big groups of predominantly slow moving traffic to Nansen Bas,
Lower at the Mi Chemin intersection pictured above, there is
huge stress release on all the other trails that are otherwise
topographically concentrated to flow around the TGV Quad Base.

Additionally, Nansen Bas, Lower, completes the longest single
Summit-To-Base descent path at Tremblant. It is a 6 kilometre
masterpiece of brilliant trail design originally dating to 1938,
from the efforts of World Famous “Jack-Rabbit” Johannsen
who conceived its most excellent linkage of beautifully easy
fall lines from the Summit to the Base of the Mountain.

We love the entire 6 Km’s of Nansen’s “Green” descent path
and we promote it specifically as one of the very best learning
environments on the Planet because with that continuous length,
Beginners can achieve a uninterrupted practice rhythm that
facilitates exponentially faster learning curves that simply can
not be matched by 98% of the Worlds other Green trails that
need you to stop and get back on a lift every few minutes.

In our opinion, if you are an enthusiastic Beginner who wants to
learn how to Ski quickly, effectively and efficiently, Nansen at
Tremblant is one of the very best places you can go to in the
known Ski World. A Ski week’s learning and practice based on
this trail will quickly advance your skills, confidence and athletic
endurance for a lifetime of future fun and healthy enjoyment
anywhere you go. Period.

The whole point of this Nansen review is that if you are an
enthusiastic Beginner considering Tremblant as a Ski Holiday
Destination, now or in the future, you need to know you have
this excellent resource to support your effort.

In The Meantime... Over On Versant Nord/North...

The Brand New Lowell Thomas Sector Opening.

Going Great On Super Smooth!

The Lowell Thomas Sector Opening has been hallmarked by the typical
excellence of Mountain Op’s to render complete, almost seamless, smoothness
in the initial trail surfaces. There are the usual mixed granular particle
sizes that you can see in the pic. above, but as you can also see by
the track and tail-wash of flying snow off the Skis, that there is very
good grip here that allows nice, clean carving. This results in single
well defined ski tracks left behind this Skiers descent path.

All the trails in this sector will respond very favourably to Skier/Boarder
Traffic volume that will render out finer(as in smaller), average particle size,
so we are encouraging all loyal Tremblant Fans to get out and do your
part to help “Break-In” this great array of newly opened terrain.
Additional daily grooming cycles will also help to quickly refine the
initial surfaces, so you can expect steady incremental improvements
here for the foreseeable future.

Weather Notes:

Another very fine, sunny, early winter day for those lucky enough
to be here. The component we like best in the daily portion is the
low wind speed, so even at a degree C cooler than yesterday, if
the wind is proportional at the Summit, it should be one of the
most user friendly, beautiful Ski/Vista days so far.

The long range 14 day outlook indicates a consistently sub-zero C
with only one minor blip, and quite a bit of natural snowfall.
Regional Tremblant Fans that can plan to be here should put
all possible effort into attending for the potential of a very sweet
Pre-Christmas Escape To Ski!

Conditions Notes:

Most of what you need to know is content above, however
there is one notable refinement apparently coming on line
during the day, which is the “Progressive” re-opening of
Versant Sud, South Side McCulloch in Groomed format.
Its initial Big Bump opening generated some unusual challenges,
so this refinement should instantly see high performance
utility benefits for its many devoted Fans.

The mechanical glitch with the Duncan Quad was sucessfully
resolved, so it is back on-line this morning. The Nord/North
Side is also seeing new snowmaking activity around the Expo
Quad Peak, including visible snowmaking observed on Sissy
Schuss at and below the mid-point “Side Door” access from
Gagnon. Other examples of Snowmaking can be seen indicated
by Snowmaking Icons in the Official Trail Report copy below.

Otherwise, the Base is generally still very “Firm”, but the
smoothness makes it all much easier. Bring tuned edges,
select Terrain appropriately matched to your actual Skill
Level, and you will have an excellent day.

Thanks for your visit!

Bottom line is that with very favourable weather
support there is massive trail development underway
to accommodate the the 24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
