T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit, under construction at 10:41 P.M.

It Was An Excellent Day For High Energy Skiing/Boarding With Friends!

Please Note “High Energy”, and see explanation below.

In our original post/forecast this morning, we were wrong about
timing on the rates of optimized groomed trail compaction.

There is substantial packing, but there is just way too much
snow to pack it all to typical finished trail surface density in
only 2 overnight cycles, so there was still looseness in top
layers, and that resulted in some tracked thickness today.

That’s why we said we were wrong on timing because we think
you’ll see what we thought might occur today, more-so, tomorrow.

It was this thickness that was evident to variable degrees today,
that prompted the “High Energy” reference above, because it
literally took “High Levels Of Energy” to navigate through. In a
sense, it was a good workout skiing today. Another way to say it
would be “Technical Skiing”, where technical means concentrated
focus on balance, stance, speed control and assertive directional
control.

Above and Below: A Mini 2-Pic. Case Study For Trail # 64(Bas/Lower)
There was no doubt that conditions favoured Experts, but... there’s a
Big, Big “However” though... we proved beyond a shadow of a different
doubt, that today, a confident intermediate could very adequately Ski a Single
Black Diamond with a wee bit of supervised encouragement because here we are,
and the Black Diamond in question was the newly groomed Nord/North Marie-Claude
Asselin, Bas/Lower.

This is a prime example of where a Supervised, confident Intermediate
using well executed “Snowplow” turning technique, coupled with short
traverses, can very successfully navigate this “Black” rated trail with
absolute control when it is freshly groomed.

The keys are encouraging the assertive confidence for the alternating left/right
outside ski pressure, and that is that it’s not a race, so take your time and find
a rhythm that works.

Tomorrows increased “User Friendly”, is tonights Grooming
Night-Shift and every following day should see substantial
steps up as well.

We’re encouraging all Tremblant Fans attending to be patient
as this is a HUGE project for Mountain Op’s and physically, it
just takes time. Machines can cover roughly 4 acres per hour,
so logistically speaking, with hundreds of acres needing multiple
passes, we’re now targeting more widely ranging grooming
optimization being realized by Wednesday. Tuesday should see
very solid progress towards that goal, but there is enough softness
in the total volume that even with Mountain Op’s working all
night long, getting the spongy loft pressed out is still a multi-day,
time consuming process.

Look for the biggest grooming concentrations on the Green rated
trails first as Beginners and Intermediates are always prioritized
for immediate support.

102/102(*) Open Trails on all 4 Sectors at #Tremblant .

Three Very Important Points For Today, Which Are Also
Three Excellent Reasons To Run Away From Home To Ski Tremblant :

Point # 1)

Early Bird Notice:

It’s Another Version Of:

“All Of The Flavour Without Any Of The Calories!”, i.e.,:

You get all the benefits of the last two days of Super-Chilled “Cryosnow",
that the low point of -33C yesterday morning, has rendered to the entire
matrix of the base. PLUS ... now including a new dusting of overnight snowfall,
as well as all the comfort of very tolerable daytime temps today going up to -1C,
with even more snow falling all day!!!!

33 Degrees C Warmer In 28 Hours!!!

It’s Going To Seem Like A Day At The Beach!!!

It is our generalized observation that as temps rise, but remain
within a Sub-Zero C range, “Conditions”, i.e., the subjective feel
of speed, control, glide, edge-set, etc., etc., all seem “Easier”
throughout the period of the rising temps.

We think today will be a classic example of that concept.

Point # 2)

Today Is The Very First Day Of The Ultimate Level Of Tail Refinement
And Seasonal Maturity At Tremblant. Period.

Trails # 64, Marie-Claude Asselin, and Trail # 65, Banzai,
Shown As Groomed!!!

These two trails are what we refer to as “The Canaries In The Coal Mine”,
in-so-far-as they are indicators of both Sector and overall Mountain
terrain development status. The first level is when they “Open” for the
season. The second is when there is enough natural snow reserve/base
in order to groom them. The key reference point with these two trails is
that they do not get any snowmaking during the early season, and they
completely rely on all natural snow for their entire degree of quality and
development potential.

Though they be small in size, they be HUGE as indicators of
Tremblant Seasonal Maturity.
(#)

This “Point # 2" alone makes today a Seasonally
Historic Day of significant technical merit
and refined attainment.

((#) - there is a potential bonus item here that we’ll
cover later, in the mean-time, if you can guess what
that is, you get 10 Stars for total understanding.)

Point # 3)

Let’s Not Forget... There Has Been approx. 55cm’s of Fresh Snowfall
In The Last 72 Hours!!!

The implications for the quality of Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste and
all other Un-Groomed terrain is a “Game Changing” HUGE(literally and
figuratively) jump in overall depth and quality, notwithstanding that
drifting will have occurred that could make for powder lines today
that could be up to DOUBLE the Official totals of the 72 hours of snowfall.

WOW, Wow WOW!!!

If You Can Be At Tremblant Today... You Are A Genius!!!

But Wait, There’s More!!! ...

Combine Point #1, plus all the indications/implications of
Points #2, and #3 and you have a potentially Synergistic
combination of co-factors that could render today as a so-far...
“Best Of” across the entire fully opened Mountain.

And if all that’s not enough, it’s Monday, the beginning of the work-week,
so the traffic is typically so light you’ll frequently be the only person
within sight.

Two Part Forecast Range Of Performance For Today:

Part 1, Groomed:

We hope to confirm all the above at Apres Ski,
so check back tonight if you can.

Weather Notes:

What can you say... from yesterday morning to today by lunch,
a 32 degree C rise in temps is an astounding, positive difference
in every normal Human utility measure possible.

Conditions Notes:

It’s going to be a completely fascinating day of virtually unlimited
potential for all Skill Levels and across all Skill Levels of rated terrain.

Today might even help redefine our concept of...
“Average Is Excellent”, and there is more than a hint that
today could be more like...

“Average Is Crazy Good, Out Of This World Excellent!!!”

In addition to all the potential of everything above, there’s one
more thing... Strictly speaking in terms of the big, big initial
snowfall of 48 hours ago, today is “Day # 2” for overnight grooming
on the major Green and Blue trails. Beginners and Intermediates
are less likely to experience moguls in the initial softness that often
happens after loads of rapid depth accumulation. Every day that passes
allows for more ideal trail surface compaction, so in that regard we are
likely to see upward levels of density achieved within all the major Green’s
and Blue’s over the next several days.
