(Scroll down to "Replies" for Apres Ski additions)

Where did that decade go?

Seems like just yesterday that we were worried about “Y2K"
problems that might occur as we waited for all our computers
to crash on New Years eve. 2000.

Not everyone had caught onto "Shaped" or “Parabolic"
Skis yet back then... Wow, seems hard to imagine.

Anyway, here we are now, New Years eve 2010 with
another decade opening up at Tremblant, season #72.

53 Open Runs this morning under cloudy skies with
Snow in the forecast and a morning temp of -10C,
rising to a very easy to handle -5C.

A very nice Tremblant winter day with great conditions
that should get better every day with more snow in the
forecast over the next few days.

By the way, the new run open this morning is the top of Sissy Schuss.
This will give Skiers and Boarders another way down to the base of
the Lowell Thomas triple chair from the top of the Expo Quad chair,
but more importantly, it indicates the near opening of the rest of
this sector of the Mountain, which is a favorite for many locals.
Further support for this theory is the Snow Making taking place
on Expo and La Griffe, as shown on the Grooming report below.

Continued Snow Making on Geant and Superieur is a good sign
for this area (to the right of Duncan as you are standing at the top,
facing down the North side).

With just a bit more natural snow, all this great terrain will come
on-line shortly in fabulous shape, so we're all keeping our fingers
crossed for good luck regarding the snow in the forecast.

From the Tremblant Printable Snow Report:

"À partir de 20 h à la base de la montagne, Tremblant vous propose
des célébrations du Nouvel An plus flamboyantes que jamais avec
un programme d'activités incluant une descente aux flambeaux,
de la musique, de la danse, un spectacle de l'École sur Neige,
des surprises et un feu d'artifice explosif sous le coup de minuit.
De la part de toute l'équipe de Tremblant, nous vous souhaitons
une bonne et heureuse année!

Tremblant offers the most flamboyant New Year's Eve celebration
ever thanks to new activities including a torch-lit run down the
mountain, music, dancing, Tremblant's Snow School show, surprises
and a dazzling fireworks show at the stroke of midnight! Happy
new year to everyone!”

The First column shows the coloured skill level symbol, followed by the run name.
Explanation of the 3 status columns:
The First Column is tick marked for runs open. A Flag icon in
the first column indicates the run has a Race course set on it.
An "up" or "down" arrow in the first column indicates that the
top or bottom portion of the run is open. An "hourglass” icon
indicates that the runs opening is "Progressive", which can mean
either gradual or delayed opening.
The second column shows runs with Snow Making.
If there is a crescent moon shape in the second column,
it means Snow Making is being done at night. The Boxed
No.1 symbol in the second column means that is a
"First Tracks" program Open Run.
The third column shows runs with Grooming. You will note
that both Snow Making and Grooming can be shown on runs that
are not open yet, this indicates the preparation of terrain that may
be opened soon. The wavy icon in the third column indicates that
run has natural undergrowth and is typically associated with
Glade runs that may not be groom-able.

The Skiing and Boarding are Great, and yes, it is still early season
conditions, so there may be natural hazards that only more snow
will take care of, but all things considered, the Tremblant Mountain
Crews have done an excellent job of making our Mountain the
best it can be.

Today and the next few days are going to be Classic Early
Season Tremblant... Great Conditions and easy temps...
Get out and ENJOY!
