Day 2 Of 3:
1.20.25.Mt.T.Old.Village.Hillside.Views.Mt.T.d.jpg
Some people say that you can see “Cold” when it gets down
to this level and we’d agree. There’s a certain crispness in the
naked eye visual definition that to us, also appears to have
a deeper hue of sky blue.
Maybe it’s all a myth, but one thing is for absolute sure...
regardless of temp, it is stunningly gorgeous.
Weather Notes:
We have no idea why there is no Environment Canada
Cold Weather Warning Alert because starting out today,
this is an absolute danger zone. They are even publishing
articles on the dangers of, and “How To” treat Hypothermia,
but no cold warnings?
Extreme cold exposure risk exists. At our base location
slightly elevated and adjacent to the Resort base, the
trusty old analogue thermometer is registering -28C.
No matter a degree or two either way, this cold requires
very sophisticated outer garment layering in order to
safely avoid potential frostbite injury that can happen
with time spans measured in seconds.
It is forecast to warm up to -15C by early afternoon,
however even that is still a cautionary zone when you
factor in the descent speed net headwind windchill
equivalent.
Today’s Whacky Continental Weather Highlights:
Blizzard At New Orleans!
Houston Airport Shut Down!
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Technically, excellent. After multiple days of post-snowstorm
overnight grooming cycles, plus a hard dose of cryogenic
freeze-drying, the stability of the base is going to be reaching
up to “Best of season” levels, at least so-far.
As a seasonal construction component, this is a foundation
that, providing we get nothing other than average snowfall
from now on, will last until late April.
Repeat from last cold-snap:
"Every day of winter cold injection is a day of spring heat rejection."
We might make an exception to that generalization in-so-far-as
when it gets into the minus 20’s for consecutive days, the future
heat rejection factor might be added to by weeks, not just days.
Does any of that make it easier to work with today? Nope, you
absolutely have to have zero’d in focus in this moment for the
highest levels of thermal preparation before you even put your
hand on the door to go outside.
Please review our Conditions Notes from yesterday for
additional context.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Technically very good to excellent, however once again,
the challenge is to be able to appropriately dress for
safe and comfortable function.
Please review our Conditions Notes from yesterday for
additional/repeat context.
------------ Conditions Caveats: --------------
Extreme Cold Weather Advisory.
Start With Zero Exposed Skin. Frostbite can occur in seconds,
especially with forward descent velocity. To avoid skin damage
and pain, every single square cm of skin needs to be covered.
Do not ignore painful fingers or toes. If it hurts but you stay
outside anyway and then the pain goes away, you are at very
high risk for nerve damage.
Avoid taking little children outdoors until you can verify safe
exposures.
Take frequent indoor warming breaks, and consider a later start
when temps are forecast to rise.
----------------- 1:43 P.M. Insert Update: -----------------
Please Note: From a very cold start, it has eventually warmed up
to a far more manageable temp. Still cool, but not crazy cold.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
