The Sun Sets On This Cold Snap Edition...

Yesterday From -29 C, rising up to -13C, then
up to -12C overnight, and rising to -8C this aft.

That’s A 20 Degree C Rise In 30 Hours.

So Today is...

Half The Cold, Twice The Fun!

This wave of the Polar Vortex is literally headed off to Scotland...

Weather Notes:

Warmer daytime’s for sure, but as you can see there are still quite
cool forecast overnights, so winter is not going anywhere just yet.

Mother Natures own best snowmaking temps are at around
-7 C, +/-, so there is substantial potential within the long
range forecast to see some significant snowfall accumulation
events coming up. If you have discretionary planning ability,
keep an eye on the days below that show high probability.

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

One aspect we’d like to point out is the benefit of longer days
that are noticeably brighter now. The sunset pic above was taken
just before 5:00 P.M. and there is still direct sun on the Summit.
A month ago, it was dark at this time. The advantage during open
hours is that as the sun climbs in the sky, we really begin to see
better lighting during the day for enhanced contour recognition,
especially on Versant Nord/North Side trails where early winter
shadows are receding by the day.

In the Groomed:

We think today could easily have some “Best Of Season” so-far,
superb groomed conditions. Multiple and consecutive days of
cryogenic cold with grooming every night, all after the previous
week of over 40cm’s of fresh snowfall could produce spectacular
results, all in a far more user-friendly temp range that is going
to make enjoying it all so much easier.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

Potentially very, very fine.

Today's best advantage these categories have is the
low traffic volume because of the cold that has kept
attendance on the low side. As a consequence(and
maybe for today only because tomorrow’s long weekend
traffic could begin to change everything), much of the
undisturbed Sous Bois snowfall still exists with relatively
little use and wear. For sure there have been a lot of brave
bushwhackers out, but only a fraction of what we might
have seen had it been warmer all week.

PLEASE NOTE:

Versant Sud/South Side Ryan Bas Lower Shown As CLOSED.

Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:

Bonjour Tremblant! Old Man Winter is here to stay! Get dressed nice and warm
because amazing snow conditions await you! We received over 30 cm of new snow
in the last week and we have 102 open trails on 4 sides of the mountain!

Please note that the Cabriolet lift will be closed today. We have therefore set up
a parking shuttle that will take you to the Sommet des Neiges.
