On Any Sunny Day...
It’s A Big Sky Over Tremblant!

Shred This...
If you have the skills and the muscle...
A bit fuzzy on the focus(shot off a bouncing chairlift
with active snowfall filters), but pin-sharp accuracy
on the level of high performance grip on the very
steep Expo pitch.

Weather Notes:
Says “Partly Cloudy”, but at this stage it’s “Brilliantly Sunny”...

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Over the entire range of freshly groomed, “Average Is Excellent”. Period.
There very high degrees of connectivity and forgiveness
between rated skill levels and that makes learning increased
slope challenge easy as long as you have the essential/basic
speed control techniques well in hand so you can slow down
and keep slow, as you enter onto steeper pitches.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Generally, very good but certainly seeing the signs of
very well used since the last really big snowfall. You
need to be a legitimate Expert with a great degree of
patience, very slow speeds and the agile capability to
stop, pivot or jump, instantaneously.
We annually use Versant Nord/North Side trails in the
upper Lowell Thomas Sector as case studies to asses
optimized seasonal utility and to be objective we have
to report that there are some very raw conditions with
significant hazards that are currently prevalent.

A few days ago these were posted with unmarked rock
and obstacle warnings, now they have variable condition
alerts but the rock and the obstacles are still there.
What is observed below is a sample patch of raw granite
about the diameter of a basketball and it has a very shallow
covering of snow camo over it that is somewhat displaced by
a ski or board passing over. The irregular roughness of the rock
could do substantial damage to bases or edges.

Typically, these trails eventually get re-set grooming which
effectively harvests the deep snow from the outboard edges and
fills in all the centre/traffic worn glitches, but if/when until that
occurs, you must use extreme caution and accept the potential
risks to your equipment.
Believe it or not, compared to the risks associated with the above,
some of the adjacent open Sous Bois is far more forgiving. There are
still fresh tracks available and the depth and thickness are like automatic
speed control as you just can’t move that fast. You still need to be
careful, but the often undisturbed depths are sufficient to effectively
bury everything. For sure, you have to navigate around trees, and
steep’s and trees, but that’s standard fare for genuine Sous Bois Experts.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
