A Spring Skiing Preview!
------------- Equipment/Conditions Caveat : ------------
From this day forward, and for optimized performance
and safety across all skill levels, it is wise to bring your
skis or snowboard with recently tuned, sharp edges.
Once the surface thermal cycling common to temperature
oscillations that can go above freezing to below freezing
over hours or days occurs, there can be icy or slick bits that
happen due to thaw and you want to be ready for that before
you hit the slopes.
If you’re coming for a day as a regional commuter, get them
done now at Yourville, so you’re ready. This can mean taking
them to a local ski shop, or, if you have the initiative, use your
own ski edge tuning file, then wax or coat the P-Tex bases for
efficient speed and longer glide capability.
If you’re coming for a Multi-day Ski Holiday, your absolute best
option is to take your skis/board to the “Ski Shop”(#) at the base
of the Versant Sud/South Side Cabriolet lift, located within the
Chalet Des Voyageurs.

They have a crazy-good “Overnight” discounted tune-up deal
and if you drop them off Apres Ski the day you arrive, you pick
them up before “First Tracks” the next morning and you will be
shocked at how much better they perform. It will literally feel
as if you got brand new skis and you will laugh at any “Spring”
conditions as you zip around with razor sharp control.
(#) Due to the numeric size and volume of use of the huge rental
ski fleet at Tremblant, they can afford to have the very best automated
mechanical ski tuning machinery. It comes from Austria and it is
arguably the best in the World. It is not an invasive grinding either,
it is more of honing operation that squares up the base and edges
with minimal material removal but maximum dimensional accuracy
and it is the dimensional accuracy part that gets you astounding
lateral grip turning performance.
Additionally... It is the experience and skills of the technicians
at Tremblant that make a huge difference. These are seriously
dedicated people who have years of experience on these very
sophisticated machinery systems and they know exactly how
to tweak the settings to get you the very best results.
We are not sponsored by them. We pay for tune-ups like everyone
else and what we see here is absolute top-shelf value, especially
if you are travelling a long distance for a week-long ski holiday.
Compared to the cost of transportation, accommodation, food and
lodging, the cost of of a few bucks to get such a huge performance
and safety benefit is literally a few pennies on the dollar.
Weather Notes:
We would slightly disagree with the Official message below
in that we think there is a very high probability of any precip.
at Mountain elevations being all snow. The common elevation
differential is -4C cooler at the Summit compared to the Sud/South
Resort Base temps and when you take into consideration that
the cloud above is at even cooler temps over the Mountains peak,
that’s reason enough for us to lean more towards snow than rain.
We could be wrong, but typically with a very low single digit “+” base
temp., we see snow more often over the higher Alpine trail network.
----------- 2.24.25 Great Lakes Ice Coverage Supplementary Conditions Weather Data: ----------
Why This Is Important:
We could be seeing the development of a very snowy time period
moving forward and over the entire remainder of the season. This is
because in the forecasted more ideal natural snowmaking temperature
ranges, as the Colorado and Texas Low’s move diagonally from the
South-West they will pick up additional moisture as they move across
the vast expanses of open Great Lakes water, and that will add to the
volume of natural snowfall production over Tremblant.

Conditions Notes:
Generally:
Variable degrees of softening occurring in
patterns you should be easily able to recognize.
Overall, we do expect the embedded cold of
the recent months to be the dominant influence
however what you’ll need to watch out for may
be some icy bits that could sneak up on you
without notice.
Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:
Bonjour Tremblant!
The ski conditions are still great despite the changing
weather! The slopes are well-maintained, and the snow
remains pleasant. Temperatures have risen slightly,
making the atmosphere milder and more enjoyable for
a day on the slopes. Although rain is expected throughout
the day, it shouldn't disrupt your experience too much.
On the contrary, the rain will bring a different and refreshing
vibe, creating a unique atmosphere. Enjoy this wonderful
day of skiing while admiring the landscape in a special light!
