Not Hit, And Missed...

The Weather Is The News On The East Cost Of North America

As Millions Of Folks To The South Of Us Get Hit, Get Buried, In The Blizzard Of The Season.

All We Get Is A Sunny Day...

Weather Notes:

Praying For Snow...

The last big snow we had was back on the night
of February 10/11, so it’s been one of the longest
stretches of no precipitation so far this season.

Fortunately we were way ahead to begin with so
as long as we might get average from now on,
we’ll still be on track for an above average seasonal
total. Fingers crossed on that one.

In the meantime, we’ve had some minimal impact
warmth, way far away from a true February thaw,
so while there are hints of warmth, the base still has
a very well embedded frost level we’re drawing on
for overall surface stability.

Monitoring the elevation differential over recent days
has shown between -3 to -6 C cooler Summit temps
over base levels, so when those base levels have been
breaking daytime highs close/around Zero C, the healthy
cooler spread up over the trail network is a welcome
buffer against any significant snow loss.

Who Is “Lowell Thomas” ?

Google that one, but basically, one of the 1939 Tremblant resort
founder Joe Ryan’s closest friends and an early and classic example
of a mid-Twentieth Century “Social Influencer”.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Similar to yesterday, but different in at least a couple
of key areas.

Firstly, there are some thermal induced icy bits, however
they are primarily on steeper challenges which means
more likely on Expert/Black Diamond trails, and they
may have either different dimensions or even locations
today due to Mother Natures effects or grooming efforts
that might take them out.

Secondly, it’s Monday, not the weekend, so typically the
traffic is lighter and less prone to wear factors that can
displace loose top layers off of firm substrates. That could
change by the end of the day.

Paying close observational attention to patterns is critical.

If you see or experience anomalies with either steepness
or speed in any given area, you may reasonably expect
similar heading into others of the same profile.

Sharp/Fresh Recent Edge Tuning Is Essential.

Beginner/Greens and lower pitch’d Intermediate/Blue’s
are going to be the most consistent so if you're slip-sliding
on steep, dial it down and be happy where you can find
reliable, safe grip.

Sharp edges could give you twice as much fun, so don’t
ignore basic utility if you’re planning to attend in the
near future.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Roughly 1,343,562 wild cards... but essentially firm and fast.

If there’s one sort of general thing, it might be that in
especially the mogul zones, the forgiveness factor
will be on the low side as the snow has not only
been well compressed, but because they are usually
on steeper pitches, there may be some icy bits
lurking between the tops.

Explore slowly on all initial passes.

Sous Bois Overall Summary...

Expert Adventure Around Every Corner!!!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
