102/102(*) REVISED - Fully Open Trails At #Tremblant .

Archival Data Attached Below.

Please Note: Normally we attempt to register open trail revisions
when there are 2 or more changes, however in this case because
it involves “Fully Open” status, a rare statistical occurrence for
any March 29th, we are recording this exceptional event for
historic posterity.

From -4C, to +4C,

Cool Winter Springs Into A Bit Of Heat...

Please Note:

External site logistics may cause delays
in some reporting timing this weekend.

Sorry about that, however the summary is:

a) That the current cold snap, together
with the preceding late March natural
snowfall is a most excellent combination
that is facilitating a remarkable 101/102
Open trail status on March 29.

b) Go if you can, you’re crazy if you don’t...

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

There is extraordinary potential for very fine moving to
excellent because of the incremental increase in scope
in groomed quality that always occurs over consecutive
days of sub-zero C’s, plus in this specific case of today,
the added bonus of beneficial softness in surfaces that
should occur later in today as temp’s build to just above
the freezing mark.

If there are tendencies to have slick or icy bits they should
be infrequently rare and confined to steeper Black slopes
at or below topographical crests where past thermal events
may have left some residual mini-glacial flow zones and
there could be sufficient traffic wear to displace groomed
loose top layer snow off to the sides.

Look for patterns and proactively anticipate where slow
speeds or stops are required, before blasting over the
crests and finding slick challenges below.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

For this date in any season, a fantastic basic coverage
and even though there are some uneven characteristics
in the bush snow strata, there are depth averages between
half, to a metre and a half of natural snowpack.

The conditions in the Sous Bois group are highly variable,
so Expert level skills and experience are necessary while
the forgiveness is on the low side until some real Spring
heat works in to soften much below the very top layers.

The real potential remains to be seen when that heat arrives
but based on the long range forecast that could still be a
bit off, say sometime after Easter Weekend.

Plan now for April ski days Sous Bois fans, when the heat hits
things, including the vast range of coverage, those things could
change up quickly and they may not last for long, so you’ll want
to make sure you have your escape plans set for immediate deployment.
