Mid-Morning update: sky clearing much the way it
did yesterday. Wind still quite quick, but weather
conditions very good on balance with mild winter temps.

The Heart of the Season...

88 Open Trails today, with a daytime high temp
of around -3C, under forecasted overcast skies
with snow flurries. The winds are expected to be
fairly strong from the West, so they will be coming
just about straight up Beauvallon. Even with the seasonally
warm temp today, the wind will be enough that you
will want to bundle up around head, neck, wrists etc.
in order to maximize comfort.

For some reason, February always seems to be the
Sweetheart month of the winter season.

Sure, it's Valentines Day, so all kinds of cliché's can be
made, but February is so nicely in the middle of the
season that it usually has well established conditions,
and we still have lots of winter too look forward to.

It's great to think that we have lots of time left to both
plan and savour the joys of fine days yet to come on the
slopes of Tremblant.

Yesterday certainly was one of those fine days that
unexpectedly materialized. Forecasted grey skies
became brilliantly sunny, yet the temps remained
cold enough that our surfaces did not suffer at all.
The conditions were generally excellent, and today,
in terms of snow quality, should be much the same.

One interesting aspect of this week in review has been
the subtle, or in some cases, not so subtle differences
in surface conditions on consecutive days of similar
weather.

The super quality, grippy, and consistent surface's
that we now have came after the somewhat icy day
or two we had earlier in the week, and were a very
pleasant surprise that we are happily enjoying.

Lets hope that continues on as we get ready for first
tracks today!

Fine weather and fine conditions bring out the weekend
attendance.

Everyone that enjoys the winter outdoors was out taking
advantage of a fine winter day with easy temps, great
surface conditions and magnificent scenery.

As usual, Tremblant Mountain Crews have our surfaces in
great shape for Skiing or Boarding. Our advice is to get to
Tremblant as soon, and as as often as you can. Not only is the
vigorous exercise and fresh air good for you, but the
awesome natural beauty of Tremblant's setting is a rare treat.

Last Run, end of day.

The sun did its best to poke through the cloud, and every
once in a while, it almost did. The wind was definitely
swirlling around the summit, but below that, it was pretty
much just snowing this big, fat-flake snow, and at a
very steady rate.

There was quite a good weekend crowd out enjoying the
fine conditions, not quite as many as yesterday, but still,
the Mountain was busy.

We elected to park on the North Side to maximize our
vertical skied as we thought that there would be fewer
people over there, and we were right. You could walk
right on to the Expo chair on either side singles line, so it was
time for laps as that is always a better alternative to standing
in line.

Unfortunately, the Expo chair suffered a glitch and it went off-line
at about 2:30. Not sure what happened there. The Expo chair is
one of the most reliable lifts ever, so hope that is already looked
after.

At just after 2:00 P.M., it began to snow and by 3:30, there
was a fair accumulation beginning to show. We made last run
on the Duncan chair at 3:58 and the chair stopped for a
couple of minutes, so I decided to take a couple 'o Snap Shots
to see if I could capture the characteristics of how it was falling.

If this is an indication of the week to follow,
it's going to be great skiing and boarding at Tremblant!
