What's up with the soleil side?

Post by richardvoyageur »

Any ideas when this will be opening up guys? Do you think it'll be open for Monday when we are on the hill?

Also, what's your take on the new green run over there, #95?

Well the Soleil Side is one of the last sides to open. It is planned to open for this Saturday or Sunday which should help spread out the crowds. The new green run will not be open, because it does not have any snow making equipment, all natural. It opened last year for maybe a week give or take a few days. You will be riding the blue square Toboggan which is one of my favorite runs on the mountain, very long, gets the legs going if you don't stop. Feels like a big roller coaster as it dips and dives through the mountain.
BIG RECOMMENDATION: Do Toboggan early in the morning because the ski out is narrow and steep at le soleil and gets skied off fast.

Sounds perfect man, I think I will rip down Toboggan as one of my first runs and warm up the legs.

I've been working out heavily since last March and have lost about 37 pounds so far, so I'm curious to see how this will help my legs on the long ones.

Once again I would totally agree with FreeSki678
on this one. Try to get there early, the last pitch to
the lift can be gnarly after traffic has been on it for a
while. Mountain Crews usually have it perfect, first thing
though. Brings up another thought... if you have the
horse power, do some laps on it. Like many trails here
there's more than one good line. A few laps will really
open your eyes on this if you explore different approaches
to contours. Let the Mountain tell you where to turn, she'll
do that if you have an open mind.

Toboggan is a classic Tremblant run. If you look at the pic
of it I put in the report today, not only will you have an
idea about its character, but look out over the distance.
That's along way off! This run ends waaayyy down there!

Bottom line... you need to pace yourself. The Holiday
guest numbers may well cause a few lift waits anyway,
so maybe everything will work out.

Good work on the fitness goals! Yer' gunna' need a bunch
'o protein after a day here, regardless. make sure to get a quality
re-fuel Apres Ski and if possible, have a protein snack before
bedtime. The human machine has its biggest secretion of natural
growth hormone for repair and building 90 minutes into R.E.M.
sleep, so if you've got the correct fuel on board, you have the best chance
of recovery. Otherwise, you go catabolic at about 3a.m. and your
body eats unused muscle to repair the other you tore up earlier.

As much a we would like to see Soleil open at this stage
it is hard to tell exactly when that might occur.

What we can tell you is that Trails Number 40, Franc Sud
41, Toboggan and 42, Tapecul, have had snowmaking shown
on the Official Snow report on one or all for about a week.

Like any other sector of the Mountain, we believe Tremblant would
like to have this open as soon as it is deemed safe and suitable,
particularly for the big Holiday attendance, so all we can do is hang
in there until either the Mountain crews can make enough snow,
or Mother Nature decides to bless us with a good blizzard, or even
a nice old fashion heavy snow storm or 2, so that there is enough
coverage.

What needs to be kept in mind is that Toboggan is about 3.5 kilometers
long or so and without more natural snow, the coverage factor is limited
to what can be man made and that could take a little while.
