Terrain Park Updates:

Post by freeskier678 »

If anyone is checking out this board for terrain park updates I can help you on that. The post would be really long to format so just check out the update on my website. I'll add some tips to this post though.

http://braamedia.com/2010/12/24/tremblant-park-update/

This is as of December 24th, you will probably be looking at this set-up for at least another week. The park team has been doing an amazing job this year given the restrictions we have on the public parks. Those restrictions are size of jumps and rails, since anyone can use these parks, Tremblant is only aloud to put up to Large rated features for liability purposes. Tremblant has the best park grooming I know of in all the East Coast; from the guys who groom with the snowcats too Martin and Frank doing all the hand work.

Now with the unfortunate delay of the Duncan Chair opening on the 29th the Lowell Thomas chair is overloaded with people. This doesn't make for easy and quick park laps, but I will give you a way to still get them in.
You are going to have to get up early though. The Lowell Thomas chair is pretty quiet between 8:30 and 10:00 maybe 10:30 if we are lucky. It then gets swamped with people trying to get up to the top for lunch along with the general crowd. I would say at this time you start to hike one of the rails or if you are a lift person go do laps in the Alpine park. Then take lunch at 11:45 about. Eat lunch fast and you can get out to the North Park because between 12-1 the chair isn't that busy. After that you won't be able to use the Lowell Thomas so it's either hiking or laps in Alpine until the day is finished.

Wow, that sucks that the Duncan isn't going to be ready in time for our Monday arrival on the mountain. Hopefully they'll have it done for our last day, Wednesday

I probably won't be posting reports from the mountain as we didn't bring a laptop. I might do some posting from the blackberry, who knows

Excellent Post Freeskier678!

I think this is exactly the kind of thing that can round out our
coverage and enhances the diary aspect too.

As an "Old School" Bode Miller style slalom skier, I really don't know how to
cover this, so your expertise is much appreciated. Putting the link
in is great also. I looked at your post over there and the detail
in the descriptions seems really complete.

Was just talking to our vid guy a few moments ago about the MCA
footage you have. Initial thoughts are exactly what you've done
with this, post it the same way, then lets post the link. Until we
can allocate more time to figure out how to configure these Video posts
within the forum, if possible, the link makes sense for now. At least it gets it out.
We could use a ScreenShot of a Video Frame to make a title for the
link.

I put a fair number of still's from the North Park last spring into
the daily reports, most on last day.

Here's a couple of samples you may already have seen.

I got good feedback on these, so I hope to do more. If you have
any suggestions, let me know.

Hey Richard...

No doubt, the Duncan thing is disappointing but I know for a fact that no one
was more motivated than the Tremblant Crews to get that thing on-line
as soon as they could after the accident. Who could have guessed weeks ago that
most of Europe would be buried under snow now either, unfortunate timing on all accounts.

You still have solid options for serious early vertical as outlined in previous posts
and Lord willing, Creek don't rise, maybe Duncan on the 29th. Don't worry for one
second about anything other than going up and down as quick as you can. If you can
snap some pic's along the way, great, we'll put 'em up later. If you have any problems
beyond/other than what we know now, give us a holler here and we'll react as best we can.

What route are you taking?

With this current scenario, we should/could review the parking strategy. The North may not have
it's usual parking advantage.

Sorry about the delay on the facebook link, Freeskier678.
We'll try to better on that in future for both Archival accuracy
as well as immediate usefulness.
