It's a Brrrrright day at Tremblant!

Cool, Crisp, and Fast!

Just ask these guy's!

The new uniforms for the Mountain Info Crews don't change their
job descriptions and they continue to be the best source of assistance
to anyone who needs their help or insight.

63(*) Open Trails on 3 open sides of Tremblant today.

Soleil is off-line today for Snowmaking and trail maintenance.

Weather Alert...

The weather is a big factor this morning with a very crisp -27C
that will rapidly rise to around -15C under very bright sunshine.
There will be energy in the rays today, but at these temp values
there is also frostbite possible, so today is a zero exposed skin day.
Fortunately, the winds are forecasted to be light and Westerly, so
the frostbite on exposed skin will come from the speed you travel at.

Be vigilant on the seals and overlaps on your layers today for maximum
comfort and watch out for others around you. Let them know, politely,
if you see any white patches of skin.

Conditions are very, very good. In terms of the open terrain, we have
very close to a complete recovery, although as mentioned yesterday,
there are some natural hazards or slick spots in some high traffic zones
and in trail centers. La Griffe was a prime example of that.

Trail Sample, La Griffe.

Abundant natural snow has covered La Griffe very nicely, but particularly
in the top third, the center that gets skied off first reveals a very "solid"
base that is slick underfoot. If you carry too much speed into this portion
then you will immediately find yourself with edge set difficulties.

We continuously encourage careful exploration of the Mountain, prior
to ripping around and these conditions on La Griffe yesterday are a
prime reason. Standing off to the side dealing with camera settings
for a moment, a speeding individual came winging through and went
for a wee tumble when unable to execute a turn for lack of grip.

We realize that the typical reader here is above average in skill-sets,
so probably don't need as much of a reminder, but even so, experts
can still be caught off guard by a slick patch covered by some loose snow.

Please use care when initially exploring.

For the other side of the coin, the sides of La Griffe were covered by
fresh, light powder snow that is on average in the 4 to 6 inch range
depending on how the wind has shaped it and which side you are on.

We found the left side to have the widest amount, so with short radius
linked turns, it was excellent fun and vigorous exercise to make your
way down and it was necessary to pause for a breath once or twice
en-route.

La Griffe is a great choice for experts or confident
intermediates who will take their time to navigate with
care and under complete control.

Very Very Worth It To Ski Tremblant.

Traction and edge set properties of the Tremblant Alpine
surfaces are at top levels.

Carving grip is very reliable and the snow is dry and fast.
