Apres Ski... A nice grey day, again.
Skiing was good, however there are some
wear spots that need to be navigated.

Morning Mood Indicator...
The sky may be grey today...

48 hours ago we had mega-sunny conditions that were great
for these North Park action shots we've been processing since.
We'll keep posting as we have the time to sort through them all.
If you are "in the picture" or know someone that is, please feel
free to identify yourselves to us and we'll be happy to forward
original pic.files to you.

Despite the crude and un-scientific format, we think
you'll get the picture of yesterdays surface sample
on lower Nansen which we are calling a "Shred Test".
By extending the outside ski through the turn in an
"outrigger" mode, laying the ski over in the most
angulated edge set possible, you can see how it
carves a clean line demonstrating mechanical grip
on the snow. Simultaneously, you can get an idea of
the depth into the snow that the ski is getting as it
"shreds" or peels the surface away in the course of
its travel over distance. We did this demo over 2 consecutive
runs off the Flying Mile Chair at last run to overlap the
turns for the "Figure of Eight" pattern.

There is no ice in this sample and this is typical of
what we estimate would be over 75% of the groomed
trails. This percentage has been rising every day this
week and with incremental fresh snow for added progress.

We found virtually identical conditions over most of the
Mountain, including one of our North Side favorites, Banzai,
yesterday too.

When almost everyone else on the East Coast is experiencing
a very high level of icy base, this represents the Tremblant
difference. We think the Tremblant Mountain Crews are at the
very top of their craft, and Tremblant guests get the benefit.

While things are getting better every day...

Speed, Control and Conditions Caveat
For All Skill Levels In Effect.

Watch and maintain absolute control of your speed.

Even though there has been tremendous progress with
surface quality for all rated skill levels, there may be
icy glitches that may not be initially visible.

Typically, these areas will be in some high traffic zones
around trail intersections or run-outs to lift zones, or on
the down-side of crest contours or steeper pitches.

You need to explore the Mountain with care and control until
you have verified safe passage for your skill level.

Traffic Notes:

President's Week Holiday attendance means increased awareness of
those around you to ensure adequate space for maneuvering. Watch
out for those who are new to the area and may not be familiar with
things and could make sudden directional changes into your path.

We are showing an expanded, 2 part view of the Official, downloadable
pdf Trail and Grooming status this morning to illustrate the use of
the "Powder Maker" icon in the third "Tick" column. You don't see this
on this report every day and it indicates the trails that Mountain Crews
are working on specifically to increase snowy surface depth.

@ 35 CM, Monday could be an ideal "Hooky Powder Day",
so start planning for this possibility now. If it does not happen, O.K.,
but if it does happen, you want to be ready for this one!

Apres Ski...

Pretty much a repeat of yesterday. There were some areas that
are showing a bit of traffic wear, but most of the Mountain was
in fairly decent shape.

For sure there are icy bits that seem to shift from one area to another
overnight which we think is probably due to wind exposure as the
Mountain is subjected to a lot of variable wind directions.

Bottom line is that you still need to be careful with speed because
you can not assume it will be exactly the same everywhere you go.

These are the kinds of conditions that require solid fundamental
skills of braking, steering and speed control, otherwise you may find
yourself in a situation where accidents could happen, so please
keep a sharp eye out for others and go with care.

Having sharp, freshly tuned edges is a critical advantage, so we
recommend you get that done for maximum enjoyment of your days
on the slopes.
