Apres Ski Edit...

Possible 50 Cm WowPow in 24 Hr!

Read through to Labelled Apres Ski Edit...

95/95(*) Open Trails = 100% Genuine Tremblant Open!

Let's talk about the weather first because it will be the dominant
factor in Tremblant's life for the next 48 hours and there are a few
"Wild-Card" elements involved.

There are several different weather models being used by forecasters
such as the Weather Network, Environment Canada and Tremblant.ca,
so what we are doing is a composite. Our thought is that hopefully, it will
end up on the low range of possible temps which suggest a high of +2C
that would be the peak of a 14 hour period of above freezing that might go
from Sat. at 11:00 A.M., 'till roughly 1:00 A.M., just after mid-night.

We feel there's hope for this active weather event to produce a ton of snow
on the Summit and North Side of Tremblant because the one thing all these
models have in common is that they are for Base level, South Side. Read on
to find out why, but first...

For Saturday, 2 things to consider are firstly the high temp shown
at +2, and secondly the wind direction, South.

Tremblant Geography 101.
Orographic Precipitation.

What we feel is very likely is that as this huge moisture filled
air mass is being pushed along the earths surface from the south,
it is going to run into a very big geographic cone, Mont Tremblant.
This is going to force it up above the summit, over 2116 ft or 645
meters where the typically 4 degree lower temperature due to altitude
will hopefully be below freezing and where we think it could possibly
create orographic precipitation in the form of huge amounts of snow.
Orographic precipitation is when warm moist air rising comes into contact
with the colder air of the higher elevation, the moisture condenses, then
swirls over the Summit, dumping snow there and on the leeward North side.

This frequently happens at Tremblant when the temps are at these
borderline values and the wind is southerly. A quick review of our
archives shows very similar circumstances for Feb. 26th and 28th
of last year, so it does happen.

Who will be right?

We will stand at the summit tomorrow and let you know.
We'll take detailed pic's and post them here as "Proof of Weather"
evidence.

As eternal optimists we are very much looking forward to telling you
all about how much snow there is.

But wait... would it not be ideal if you were here to see it for yourself?
We think you should be Skiing or Boarding Tremblant tomorrow,
just because this could be one of the best fresh snow powder events
of the season! It could actually be an epic Tremblant week if all the
best case weather scenario's play out in favour of snow!

In Terms Of Skiing And Boarding...

Ultimately, new snow benefits all skill levels of Tremblant users, however
during the initial rapid accumulations, should such an event occur, experts
and confident intermediates are the ones who will have the most fun.
Beginners often find deep, thick snow to be awkward to navigate, so
depending on what your skill levels are, be prepared.

If we do get a lot of snow it may take Mountain Crews a day or 2 to
catch up with all the groomed terrain, however, trails like Nansen and
P'tit Bonheur are usually the first to be groomed, so there will always
be the best possible beginner terrain available. The nice part there is
that appreciation of these 2 examples is not limited to beginners, so
even experienced experts find enjoyment while carving on these beautifully
maintained slopes.

As far as today is concerned, the Mountain is in generally good shape,
but there is no doubt that if you have fresh sharp edges, you will
have an advantage.
Mountain Crews groom every night, so today will be different than
yesterday, hopefully for the better as we did get comments from
our members here about icy bits that are out there and need to be
navigated with caution.

The Mountain Is fully open and in generally fine shape
with the promise of a lot of fresh snow in the near and
long forecast, so get to Tremblant and put yourself
in the picture!

Apres Ski Edit ... (Thanks for the Prompt below Freeski678)

Excusez-moi...
But get in your car,
hop on a plane,
grab a bus or a train...

and Goto Tremblant as fast as you can!

Look at the bottom line here folks!
Please also note that the Weather Network has revised the
temp forecast down a degree from their earlier projections
and that's a definite step in the right direction.

The Bottom Line is the Bottom Line
on this opportunity!

Think of the possibilities!

Of course, it could all end up different
(we are talking about weather after all), but it's worth
a shot for what could be the best day of the season!

Go, Go, Go!
