Entitled: "Never Judge the Ski Book By the Cover Story"
On the surface, looking out the kitchen window it seemed like it could
only be a blustery damp soggy day then, dialing up the Official
http://www.tremblant.ca Official Snow Report it became quickly apparent that
on top of everything else we were loosing about 80% of the open terrain
we had some 24-48 hours ago. At first we thought it was a mistake.
From 95 down to 11, but that was indeed the case.
The answer was to become quite obvious. Thousands and thousands of tons
of this...
Ice... Ice coated everything including all the mechanical components
of the cable operated lifts.
That explains everything about the lifts.
On the Flip-Side, the open terrain as reduced as it had to be,
was excellent, primo Spring Skiing!
We'll post more shortly as a reply below, as time permits.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
11(*) Open Trails as Tremblant copes with rain
and very high winds that prevent many lift openings.
Please Note: Today's conditions report will be an Apres Ski
review as the currently experienced rain and very high
winds with significant gusting are vastly restricting the terrain that
can be opened.
We will attempt to update here as soon as possible and we
recommend that you check frequently with http://www.tremblant.ca
for up to the minute developments as they are posted.
Please note that the Lowell Thomas triple chair is listed as open, as is
P'tit Bonheur, however it is our understanding that may or may not be
happening depending on de-icing efforts of Mountain Crews.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Noon Update:
Summit traffic signal shows Lowell Thomas Open. We're headed there
now to verify conditions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
We will be driving to Versant Nord and will do our best to photograph
things as they are.
The open runs will be very good "Spring" skiing.
Optimum comfort will be achieved by having the best possible
and total personal coverage beginning with a Descente Poncho
and rubberized gloves to prevent a soaking.
Optimum performance will be achieved by properly waxing or
coating your ski or board bases with temperature appropriate
material for "warm" conditions.
