T360 Apres Ski Quick Edit @ 7:10 P.M.

(Please Note: This is a complex day generated by extreme weather.
Sorry for what might appear to be disjointed updates but basically,
it’s an “As It Happens” chronology.)

The Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Opened so Skiers/Boarders
could access P’tit Bonheur and Beauchemin… and it Snowed Heavily...
and was still Snowing at 4:30...

Here’s the best Sign of a quick Recovery at Tremblant…

Don’t Worry…

Everything’s Going To Be Just Fine...

A wee bit of “Wet Lens” syndrome, but hey! it could be a Lot Worse!

------------------------------------------------------------

Noon Update: 4(*) Open Trails off the Expo Quad Only.

Serious Weather Extremes are causing Major Disruptions.
Lowell Thomas Triple may or may not come on-line this aft.

All the Gondola Cars have been removed from the Main Cable.
Water weighs 10 Pounds per Gallon, so Ice coated Cars and cable
put an undue stress on things and this is way far, the best way to
recover quickly, and with minimal stress and work.

It is the only way to go.

Trails will all survive, don’t forget it’s been - 20’s C for most nights
over the past 3 Months and the Mountain holds that Deep Storage Cool
for weeks and weeks.

THIS Situation IS TEMPORARY.

------------ 8:00 A.M. Updated Lift Info. --------------

South Side Officially Closed Due To Extreme Weather.
Open Sectors/Trails Reduced to NORTH SIDE Only @ 34(*) .

------------- 7:04 A.M. Orig. Post ---------

72(*) Open Trails on 2 Very Heavily Wind Loaded Sides Of Tremblant.

Quotation From The Official Snow Report for Archival/Historical Note.

“Here are a couple of pointers for today morning. Please take good note
that due to today’s weather conditions (freezing rain and strong winds)
some operational changes will take place. To begin, the first tracks will
be canceled, so for our bravest skiing will begin at 8:30 this morning.
Strong winds are expected, South side and Versant Soleil lifts operation
might be affected. We strongly recommend you to drive directly to the
North Side, where the winds will less affect your ski experience.
The Edge side will be closed for the day, as for the Soleil side it will
be in progressive opening. Stay connected to get our latest updates
tomorrow morning.”

From our current position in the Resort Base, South Side, we can certainly
understand. The West wind has been howling all night. Strong enough to cause
"Whistling” through the window frames, and beyond the periodic Shrieks of
the Peak Gust Velocities, the ambient sound is a “Roaring” loud noise
through the trees.

The Skiing and Boarding from a technical standpoint, have every possibility
of being Fine, after all, the packed Snow Surfaces are not going anywhere,

however, people might not be going anywhere either with the current Safety
Restrictions on Lifts and Local/Regional Transit.

15 Hours Ago This Was the Reality….

How Quickly Things Can Change When
Mother Nature Decides To “Flip Her Switch”.

To begin with, the well chilled, well packed Alpine Snow Sport Base
will, in the short term, resist any structural effects, however…

For Today... The Top Surface Layer that is exposed may be slick and or
icy because the normal Elevation Differential with the Summit at 3 to 5 C cooler
is unlikely to exist due to the overwhelming wind velocity that is propelling
Warm Low Surface Air up the ramp of the Mountains Slopes.

We will inevitably loose the balance of the “Snow in the Trees” as warm
air will not take long to work thawing in the uninsulated Boughs and Branches.

The Extraordinary Nature of Unpredictable, Very Vigorous, Active Weather
makes it Impossible to know for certain how Lift Operations may be impacted
from moment to moment, but the Tremblant Crews have only one thing in mind
at this stage, and that is... Your Safety.

We need to be very understanding with regard to Lift delays and closures.

It is far, far better to be stuck on the ground as opposed to being stuck
on a lift, high up and out of practical reach.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
