The precipitation forecasted has certainly not materialized
anywhere near either the form or quantity projected… yet…
Apres Ski Web Cam Weather Observations:
Summit Apres Ski:
Bonus… at least for the probability of Snow instead of Rain…
Temp’s at Summit Levels already showing Sub-Zero:
Small but definite Snowy Accumulation beginning to show on
Ski Patrol Summit HQ Roof-Top:
No Precipitation of any sort at all on North Side Base Chalet Deck:
While The Weather Network continues to show rain, we still feel confident
that at Mountain Elevations when the temps are at this point already and
headed lower if anything, that the Mountain has a very high probability
of getting and keeping all SNOW!

46(*) Open Trails Plus 23(*) Progressive Opening Trails for a Total Potential
of 69(*) Open Trails on South and North Sector Slopes at Tremblant.
Continued Seasonally Typical “Spring” Daily Pattern Of Surface Cycling:
Morning through Noon Soften, Afternoon Thaw, Evening/Overnight Solidify.
Perfect! The durability of Wall-to-wall coverage and surface quality depends
on Overnight lows to stabilize the effects of any Thermal input.
We think one of the most practical things being done by Mountain Crews is
to change the Morning Opening hour to 9:30 A.M. as has been Officially
reported by Tremblant.ca. The least amount of Mountain Guest Utility is
at the very earliest in the daily Spring Temp Cycles just because everything
is so solid, so as far as we are concerned, this adjustment is quite suitable
for this point in the season.
To one degree or another(this could be different every day now due to
the unique weather factors of each day), the overnight re-freeze may be
mitigated by Grooming that takes place well after the surfaces become solid.
In this way, those surfaces Groomed after firming up, are left with a fairly
predicable top layer of granular. If traffic is light, that top layer will last
a good way towards the softening that occurs later on, however caution must be
maintained in areas of first passage because traffic can expose icy substrates.
Agressive Carving may also cut through to Icy bits in the early day, so we
recommend care be taken at all times until you can verify dependable
edge hold.
Of course once things soften up a bit… it’s Maximum Fun Time.
Above: Versant Nord, North Side, Banzai last Weekend. Cosmetically,
appearances are different due to loss of Snow in the Trees, however
the base will not be significantly different due to very deep supporting frost.
What is going to be different with this seasons daily Softening
is that we forecast it will not go as deep or thickly mushy. We think
there will be less tendency to form deeply trough’d Moguls, although that’s
always relative to both steepness and traffic, but the point is, the Mountain
has such heavy, deep, underlaying frost radiating out “Cold" from 4 months
of this North American East Coast Crazy-Frigid Winter, that the penetration
of Thermal induced Softness is going to run into the Brick Wall of Winter
Frost for a Long, Long, Long time….
Basically, it’s only been a week since the Overnight Low’s of -25C
and all that frost has not gone anywhere yet.
