Tremblant.ca has published a Preliminary Open Trail List for Friday, April 18th.
There are 37(*) Open Trails with Two “Progressive” Openings.
The Raw Data File Copy to be Attached Below in ”Reply”.
The -9 C of Wed. Night to Thurs. Morning will not be repeated
and with a forecast overnight low of Zero C, tomorrows Softening
will not take nearly as long.
The Skiing will be Sweeter, Sooner, and on the North the Sweet spots
should last all day with not much in the way of excessive Surface
saturation and more uniform Speed during the day.

33(*) Open Trails On BONUS North And South Sides of Tremblant!
Versant Nord, The North Side was not scheduled to re-open until
Friday, so all Tremblant Guests are going to have some very sweet
Bonus Terrain today that will provide contrasting conditions from
the Sun Soaked South.
The Bonus North Terrain will take a wee bit of extra time to soften, but
when it does, it will hold the best performance in todays Open inventory.
The North has not had any use for the past 3 days and its surfaces have
been shaded by the naturally North-East orientation of its slopes that
face the opposite direction of the Noon and Afternoon intensity of
the Sun’s very powerful Solar energy that the long days of Mid-April
produce.
Consequently, the North will be faster, less prone to any mushiness,
less prone to mogul formation and there will be some truly Excellent
Carving Potential.
The extended Cold of this Winter, a Winter that Froze all of Eastern
North America, a Record Breaking Winter which we will all remember
and talk about for years…. “Remember that K’K’K’K’kkoold Winter of 2013/14 ???
…. well, all that cold, all that frost, is going to make the last 5 days of this
season some of the very best coverages we have ever experienced
for this date… ever.
Annotated Weather Graphic/Notes:
Saturday and Sunday appear to have the forecasting consensus of
Super Sunny Spring Closing Weekend Days...
There is disagreement between multiple Weather Forecast sources
on how Friday and Monday will unfold because of the weakness
in a frontal system that is moving North-Easterly from Texas
and the States of the Central Plains on a diagonal line towards
the St. Lawrence River Valley, and the systems following.
If we understand it correctly, those who think things will strengthen
also think we will see the rain it is dragging up with it. Those who
think things will weaken further also think they may as one forecaster
said…. “Fizzle Out” en-route. There are evidently too many tipping points
that could take things either way.
We’ll do our best to update as better info. becomes available,
but for tomorrow it does look like a significant probability of
some rain for a couple of hours around the Noon Hour, then
not again until Apres Ski.
Having both North And South Open would be a big asset though
because in a spotty forecast, what we find typically is that showers
move in bands and not only that, they often come on only one side,
leaving a “Dry Option” for Guests on the other side, i.e. “North” or “South”.

Conditions Wise, Every imaginable Dimension of “Spring”, where
there can be moisture induced drag underfoot, so we
recommend “Warm” range Wax or Base Coatings for Skis/Boards
in order to maintain Speed and Glide.
Natural Hazards are beginning to show where rain, warm air and traffic
have combined to erode the Trail base. What’s remarkable is how little
there is for this date in April when we’ve seen a lot worse at the end of
March in leaner Snow and Cool years.
