Lets start with this:
We hate to break it to you, but all it does is get better from this point on...
It’s hard to imagine, at least from the perspective of Tremblant in the Twentieth
Century, how such an Opening Day could be possible. A lot of the Snow Surfaces
are at quality levels that might normally be reached in the second to third
weekend of December, even by standards of the past 5 years or so. The
whole idea of Total Mountain Vertical access on both South and North on
Opening Day is Bizarrely Nirvanic, in a very sweet, dream-like way because
we’re just not geared up to think or expect that this early.
But “Real” it is...
Cruising into the North Base off Beauchemin on satin smooth snow.
It was brilliantly sunny all day long which was offset by the wind,
but we think the combination served to help dry out the Blown snow
which was hard to tell from natural in many areas.
The Performance and Traction are quite capable of providing a workout
that will spark your metabolism into High Gear...
No doubt, there were a few icy bits on some steeps and high traffic
concentration zones, but tuned edges had no problems if speed
was responsibly controlled. Tuned edges are critical for optimized
control when surfaces could vary over the length of any given trail
but even then, it still felt a lot like mid-season on much of the open
terrain.
New to Tremblant?
The fully bilingual staff in the Info. Crew group are up-to-date on
all Mountain news, Open Trail status, Special Events and all-round
happenings. Never hesitate to ask them anything Tremblant.
More detail to follow with tomorrow’s report.
(Apres Ski Forum Utility Note: we are working with a newer version of iPhoto
and in some ways it seems less flexible than the way-old version.
Anyway, it’s going to take a few to dial in some refinement, so
our apologies if images seem a bit “Soft”. We’d like to keep a large
page format, the challenge is to retain detail. We’re workin’ on it)

13(*) Open Trails on the South and North Sides of Tremblant
which are both Open From Summit to Base
(Very Early dated Preliminary Report here to allow for Opening
Morning Logistical chores. Full Scale Apres Ski Analysis to follow
Opening Day.)
Historic.
If you had to come up with one word for this seasons Opening Day,
“Historic” would be just about perfect.
Never-Ever before have Tremblant Winter Alpine Snow Sport Fans been
provided with Summit to Base Open Terrain on both South and North
main sides of the Mountain on Opening Day.
The Duncan High Speed Quad and old faithful, the Lowell Thomas Triple
Chair Lifts are indeed scheduled to fire up for action at 8:30 A.M. on
Friday, November 21st, 2014. On the South, the Gondola will run you
up from Johannsen’s runout at the Resort Base.
On top of that incredible, almost unbelievably excellent news... 13 Open
Trails to begin with and by the end of Opening Weekend, the sweet potential
of 3 more for a grand total of 16.
It’s also amazing to note, this is the third year in a row to have Summit
to Base South Side Total Mountain Vertical Access on Opening Day which is
an outstanding accomplishment on it’s own!
We could get used to this!
Make Tracks For Tremblant!
Here’s a sample of the kind of Carving Magic we think you’ll find at Tremblant
tomorrow. The remarkable thing about this sample is that it is exactly the
way we have found P’tit Bonheur on Opening Day for the past several seasons,
but this shot is from April 4th, 2013! From day 1 to any other day in the whole
season, this brilliantly laid out and immaculately kept trail sets a Global standard
for All-Day, Every-Day consistent quality. Period.
The “Good Old Days” Openings were never as good as we expect for this one.
Congratulations to Tremblant’s Management and Mountain Operations Group
who are taking a bold step forward into the record books with not only the
Historic simultaneous South and North Summit to Base Total Vertical Access,
but as well, what is arguably the best developed opening Terrain array in the
76 year history of the Resort.
This is a scene from 1 year ago’s rather snowy Opening Day, but it seems highly
probable that this one is going to be quite different with the Sun forecasted to be
out just about all day...

Please Note: Initial Data Display Test. Size Adjustments Following.
Scroll----->>for complete data display. Please Note(A): Snowmaking Icons are not shown in the above preliminary
document, however as we all know, there is a massive Snowmaking
operation underway. We expect those Icons will be included when the
data becomes live for the Open season.
Please Note(B): There is a Small Detour on the South Side Beauvallon
Descent Path which is not really a detour but an accommodation for the
repair work on the Mid-Mountaint to Summit TGV High Speed Quad Chair
Lift. The construction zone is at the TGV Base and it is necessary to
remove Skis/Board to traverse the Vehicular Track for Crews working
to restore this lift A.S.A.P. The distance is under 10 metres and the repair
completion should be within a few short weeks.

Late A.M. Update @11:15
Crews working around the clock preparing huge amounts of terrain
for tomorrow’s opening. Great conditions for Snowmaking expected
right through the day.
(Please Note: We have a minor Mac OS-X software problem that is Morphing Up
the image sizes all by itself.
Our apologies for the giant size image files today, we’ll be experimenting
with custom sizes over the next couple 'til we dial it in.)

Lets take a glimpse at the Weather...
The hourly progression of Sunshine for the afternoon looks
pretty much the same all day so the pattern you see above
continues on ’til sunset.
Obviously , a great, sunny day is enough to motivate any serious
Tremblant fan for a multitude of reasons, but especially so for
Regional Road Trip Planners, as the Highways should be clear and
safe.
Page under “Progressive” assembly, but if you haven’t figured it out
on your own yet... as we like to say...
“If your Plans don’t include Skiing/Boarding Tremblant right now...
You’ve Got The Wrong Plans!"

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
