There’s a lot going on at Tremblant, but for all the dedicated Skiers/Boarders
that are anxious to see winters arrival and the expansion of Open Terrain, one
of the best news items is summed up with this pic. below.
11.30.15.Grooming.Snowmaking.at.Tascherau.Charron.Versant.Sud.South.d.jpg
A major Snowmaking effort has been observable on Taschereau and on down
beneath the Gondola for several days and todays Grooming of that Snow reserve
is ample evidence that this sector is being rapidly developed.
In previous seasons Mountain Crews have created additional Versant Sud descent
paths so members of the public have South Side Ski/Board access independent of
the 24Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser Course, so it’s a possibility that this is part
of that plan for this seasons event, which is coming up this next weekend.
In the mean-time, all those that were out for a day on the slopes today were
faced with a Snow-fog at the Summit that was not entirely man-made and
Mother Nature came through with even more Natural Snow today than she
did yesterday, particularly on the North.
This shot below is looking up at the mid-point of P’tit Bonheur and there’s
no doubt there is a very vigorous snowfall going on. This scene is also typical
of the Crowds we had to face at Tremblant today. Anyone within a 250 Km
radius that had the day off and missed this, missed a good one...(roughly)9,000
Vert.Per.Hr. excellent, winter Ski/Board, Versant Nord, Total Vertical Lapping Day.
Surfaces today had the same “Liquid Smoothness” as yesterday, but they were
more level, in the sense that there were less waves or ripples running laterally
across the descents and the snow itself was a finer particle size with increased
top layer depth that could hold even more aggressive carving angles than yesterday.
Beauvallon continues to have massive snowmaking and all we can say there is
that after the 24Hr Charity Event is over, Tremblant Guests next week are going
to have some of the finest quality surfaces in Eastern Northern America on this
trail.
We’ve had some questions raised about the upcoming weather forecast with
a “warm” component over the next two weeks. For reasons explained in the
following Graphic, we are not overly concerned at all... here’s why...

5(*) Open Trails on the Nord, North, Sud, South sides of #Tremblant.
Lets Go For A Total Mountain Vertical,
Summit-To-Base, Run On The North Side...
Starting at The Summit:
The serene ambience of the Summit yesterday afternoon was therapeutic just
to be a part of it. In the quiet moment of gentle Snowfall, groups of friends
were enjoying the easy, early season temps and the all the joys of sharing
a day in this Post Card-Like scenery as well as the smooth slopes leading down
from here.
Half Way Down, on P’tit Bonheur:
The improvements to the quality of the snow surfaces by overnight
grooming cycles was dramatic. Smoothness, increased depth of soft,
carve-able top layers, and a much smaller, finer snow particle, all
combined to create almost liquid smooth descent.
Coming in for a landing at the Duncan Quad, Nord, North Base:
No matter how much falls, Fresh, Natural Snow is always an asset and this
very fine refresher added another perceptible increase in trail smoothness.
It was a Very Fine Early Season Day, and today will be even better.
How Even A Small Layer Of Fresh Snow Can Make A Difference:
Imagine this....
Lets say you have two slabs of thick steel sitting on top of each other,
and the bottom one is fastened to the ground...
If you try to push the top slab around over the bottom one, there will be
tremendous surface resistance between the two slabs that will make moving
the top one very difficult.
Throw in a handful of even the smallest Ball Bearings between the slabs and PRESTO!!!
... a small child could move an immense amount of weight due to the reduction
in the surface resistance.
In our case as Skiers/Boarders, even a small natural Snowfall can seem to act like
those Ball Bearings, vastly reducing any sense of friction between the existing trail
surface and the Ski/Board bases.
It worked like magic yesterday afternoon!
Refined Surface Snow Dust:
It Skis/Boards like a Joy!
Weather Notes:
Partially Sunny, daytime High Temp at -3C by just after lunch.
Light breeze at around 6 KMPH, from the Sou-West, or crossing
the Summit from over the Soleil Sector towards Lowell Thomas.
Just like yesterday, one of the best parts of this forecast is the low
wind speed.
Currently, there’s a light overcast with natural Snow Flurries floating
around, so that precipitation is already outside the forecast and we’d
be happy to see another repeat of yesterdays snowfall.

Snowmaking and Lift Status for November 30th, 2015, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca
Please Note: The “Snowmaking in Progress” Icons are not yet fully activated on
the Official Snow Report yet, however there is very active snowmaking/Terrain
Expansion going on. Two examples are Taschereau and Charron.
This is the first “Private Club” day of the season which is a way we describe
traffic conditions for those lucky enough to be at Tremblant after everyone
here for the Holiday Weekend has gone home.
All the Joys and Benefits of Mountain Crews efforts will be experienced with
far less traffic around and there will times today when you feel as though
you have the whole Mountain to yourself.
If you are a regional/local Tremblant fan, these very sweet “Private Club” days
are worth booking “Off” , if you can. For early season training/conditioning,
if you have the muscle/stamina, over 30,000 Vert.Ft.Per.Day is very doable,
and infinitely better than any Gym on the Planet.
